Time for some tires!

ok, I will most likley be going through a sponser on this board, but using tirerack to get ideas.

I need all for corners, the fronts im not to worried about finding something but its the rears.

I want the et streets but i think they are on back order and i dont think they have my size. I am running 295/35/18. They allready rub on the exhaust. I wanted to go 305/35/18 but i dunno how bad it will rub. I thought i remember mustang guys putting 315's on with no problems, but for some reason i rub.

So the only other option for 18's is the bfg's. I herd the longlivity is a bit better than et, but how do they hook? 295's or 305's?

Anyone with good info, pros/cons please post up!

thanks!

i think nitto makes a 305/xx-18 drag radial. i remember looking into them once. being that it's a nitto, they generally run narrower then the others....Lucki had 315 BFG DR's on some 18" saleens on his cobra.

other then that, i have no valuable input

Maybe you should look into fixing the exhaust. I had 2953518 bfg kd's on 10" wheels on both my 03 mach 1 and 04 cobra and they didn't rub at all.

Ok, so we can factor in the nitto's also. Does anyone have experiance with the bfg's or nitto's?

Ive only herd good things about the MT's, but i havnt herd anything about the nittos or bfg's.

in my experience...

the nitto's reaquire more heat to be sticky than the BFG's. i'd say the nitto's might have an edge in overall traction assuming they are heated properly.

nitto's - upside... more traction
- downside.... need lots of heat

BFG's - upside.... quite a bit stickier than the nitto's in normal driving
- downside.... wear out a lot faster.

Considering it will be mainly street use, and they wont be warmed up that mach because of me not being at the track im leaning towards BFG's

I want better traction than my bald kuhmos, yet a bit of life from them. You had close to the same power as me, did you spin with the nittos?
Reason im leaning towards bfg's:

MT Hook really good but dont last long

BFG's Hook ok but last longer

Nittos dont hook that good but last the longest

if you want life, get the nittos. just remember that if you're going to race someone on the street, you need to heat them up. if you don't want to mess around with that, get the bfg's.

i could spin my nitto's from a roll in 1st if they weren't fully heated, but i made more torque than you do. :D plus i had 3.73's.

:shake:

This will be with 3.73's and steeda uppers and lowers at some point.

But bfgs last longer than et's? and hook better than nittos?

you're killing me here.

the nittos, ultimately, will hook better, but need lots of heat (i.e. a nice burnout) to get that way. under "normal" driving conditions, the bfg's will have more available traction if you don't take the time to heat either tire up.

i don't have any experience with the MT's, but i've heard they hook the best but wear the fastest.

lol ya thats what i ment, not doing a burnout lol

thanks
