thoughts on exceedspeed.com

imo its not their cars, its their behavior. i mean shit. i drive a taurus that runs 17s that has mainly aesthetic/suspension stuff done to it. but i dont go around thinking im the fastest shit in the world. ive seen the same thing with people driving domestics. its the ones that dont know shit about cars and think they gained the advertised 15hp from a cold air intake.
 
I have been posting on the Xceed board for over 6 years now. (Hopefully I am one of the OK guys over there :))

Years ago it was full for true enthusiast of the sport compact market and helped the local sport compact scene grow. We discussed engine swaps, wiring diagrams, tuning........and all of that information still exist there, it is just buried in the thousands of useless post.

It has been eroded by the "new" generation of car enthusiast. It is a much younger crowd and it seems “all” of them use the board as an outlet to express anything they please be it correct, incorrect and just plain stupid.

Now, I have many old friends there and go on there and check out what is going on..........I am well know there for "telling it like it is" and I am aware I am disliked by many because I am a straight forward in many of my responses. (AKA a d1ck, but I have never pretended to be anything different) There are many times I have to just click off because of the pure stupidity. I am convinced that either the youth of today is getting dumber or I am getting less and less tolerant of stupidity as I get older :)

I think the best example of the difference between the two boards can be stated in my actions. When the Pinks episode that was filmed at Milan was on Speed last fall I set-up an event to watch it at Kart 2 Kart.........I chose to invite the Motown crowd because I felt it was a more mature group. (My mistake :)) I just felt a larger sense of responsibility exists with the Motown group.

Xceedspeed is a social gathering place for younger enthusiast and still an outlet for a lot of them to hopefully gain some knowledge.....................and if it didn’t exist all of those members could be on here :)

We are all car enthusiast that had to start somewhere.

Well, my current car certainly would fit in more over there, but I don't think I'll be making a switch. There is nothing "muscle" about a Focus. Most people on this forum would run 13s all day long...most on 1/2 an engine. I'd be lucky to see a 13 second 1/4 mile time. However, as stated above, it's all about attitude. I haven't been here much, but I actually feel like part of a community here...seems there is just too much misguided testosterone over on Xceed...everyone wants to be better than everyone else. Lots of ignorance and immaturity, too...not that everything is mature over here, but still - the general attitude is what killed that place for me, and I'm glad this site was here to fill the void.

That site blows worse than most other sites on the web. Nothing but douchebags over there. I regret signing up there. :shake:

This will NEVER happen. It has been discussed in the past, but nothing ever becomes of it. Why? Because the vast majority of that site has nothing to race with...

I mean, C'mon, what are they gonna do when you can get at least 10-20 9sec capable cars from Motown in the blink of an eye. And there are quite a few 8sec capable street cars running around here as well.

Finally, the other reason that this would NEVER happen is because the majority on that site are nothing more than keyboard racers who would never step up to the plate, even if you set them out 20cars...:dry:

I used to post on there. A very select few are actually cool guys (benk, w3rd, drop, kenny) but that is it. Most go fucking nuts over a 13 second honda but a 10 second domestic anything is boring or dumb.

Example: Recently someone posted that race between that turbo impala and Fad's Z06. It got more negetive responses then positive ones because the "Z06 is just a rich man's car" and "There is nothing special about that 10 second impala".

I remember one post where they were talking about the new challenger and showing pictures. One guy actually said, and he was dead serious..
I think the new challengers look mad tyte and totally bad azz. But since it is a dumbestic, then it is shit and I don't like it.

I remember when Trunk made a call out thread in the drag racing section and got nothing but shit for it. Cause God forbid someone make a call out thread, in the racing section, of a supposed sports car website.

Then he made fun of this guys pink tubing he had all over his wrx at Autorama in some picture thread and the mods edited all his posts.

Then didn't LTHomer call out some dyno sheet someone posted and the mods tore into him for that too?
 
Yeah, it was a guy who owns a shop and was calling BS on some dyno chart because the Torque and HP curves didn't intersect at the normal place, not realizing that they wouldn't when the Torque and HP curves were on different scales.
 
I was kind of an asshole<I know it's hard to believe> when I signed up over there. I will say there are a hand full of FAST & QUICK cars over there. It's not a horrible site, but some of the kids just have no clue about life.
 
Even though I rarely post there anymore........Ima still defend it. I've gained TONS of friends from that site and for the time I had my pizza shop, Xceed was my best advertisement. Just go and do a search for "TMP." You'll get endless pages.

I credit Xceedspeed for the majority of my good friends, almost all of my social gatherings, influences on car modifications, where I get my shit fixed when things get FUBAR and I can't do it in my back yard, and endless amounts of actual USEFUL car knowledge. The site is NOT just a bunch of shit talking kids.

I'm a CAR guy. I love cars whether they're foreign or domestic. I've had them all. In my back yard now, sits a 356whp Honduh that hits 120mph trap speeds in an embarrassing 13 second pass. I've also owned a 413whp TBSS that I WILL be getting back.

I can admit that Xceedspeed has gone down hill in the past year or so. Its sad because there ARE some really awesome people over there and you can STILL get great knowledge from certain threads. I used to get along with majority of the site but lately I don't even like reading anything due to frustration with majority of the current members.
