my staffs are all white and a couple times they threw out deaf puppys....so your information is pretty good....having more than one pit in a home is asking for trouble,any questions message me, and ill give you my number to call me......think this through carefully,chances are if you leave them alone together you might come home to one live dog,or a big mess.....just my.02

the one dog in the house is by no means pure pit, i'd say about 35% of him is. He is a mut mostly.. here is his pic He tends to be a big sweetheart and is a little sketchy at first around other animals, but warms up nicely and quickly. Before you know it he rolls on his back and wants a belly rub. LOL

I have one and the only peice of advice I can give you is you had better find out more on this dogs background ie. dogs parents and type of bloodline because that can be your deciding factor. If it were me and I knew nothing about the dogs background I wouldn't take the chance with this breed.

That guy still hasn't called me back about the all white pit, so thanks to FBODGIRL I joined the pitbull forum and found a little guy that needs help here in Michigan. I talked with the lady who is fostering him last night and he is coming by on Sunday for a playdate with Rocco LOL Check this guy out....

I wouldn't have 2 males under the same roof. As nice as this other dog looks i'd look for a female.

Actually that's what I thought too until I started reading more about it. It doesnt matter male/female or male/male or female/female. It all depends on how they are introduced to each other. It's kinda like the saying of you never get a second chance to make a first impression, well this is really true when introducing a new animal into the house. There is a whole section on that pitbull forum on just this fact. So... we will see how the play date goes on Sunday.

Also, they may seem to get along at first, but things can still happen. My gf had to have one put down after it started fighting with one of her other dogs a few months down the road. That was 4 years ago and she still misses that dog

The only warning it gives is that once the pit gets around 2 it may start to assert itself as the dominant male in the house if it already isn't.... so once that starts there isn't much you can do about it but keep them seperate at all times. That won't be that hard, we have a big house with lots of doors to shut.

That is actually a common misconception. Once you read even more on the pit bull forum you will see some thread about this. While how ANY dog is raised it is not the only thing that is going to determine temperament. A portion of temperament is genetic. Unfortunately with all the backyard breeders breeding pit bulls. Most not caring about temperament and some actually purposely breeding dogs with poor temperaments causing puppies with poor temperaments.
I do whole heartedly agree that papered dogs from certain lines basically means nothing as far as temperament. One because the original blood lines have been breed with so many other lines it is usually far from what the line originally was. In addition my dog is a rescue that was an adult when I rescued him. His temperament is rock solid. There are tons of rescue dogs with great temperaments!

Glad you joined! He is cute I remember the day he was rescued. He was SO tiny!
As mentioned be careful with same sex as it may be an issue, but it may not. As long as you are aware that if they get along as the puppy ages it may change and you may have to separate them with crate and rotate. Of course this could happen no matter what sex or age you adopt.
I want a Big-Headed Blue Female Pitbull puppy so bad.
There is a really cute one up for adoption that I keep looking at and trying to talk myself into adopting.....I'm not ready for a 2 dog house though!
