Thinking about getting a Pug.

I suggest a mix. Purebreds have the health problems due to inbreeding within the breeds. Mixes are usually more well mannered and usually have less health issues. We got ours from a rescue and they are the best dogs you could ask for. Both are around 50 lbs so a medium size dog. Not too big for the house. But you could still go smaller as you said you wanted something easy to care for. Just find one that you like and it will probably all work out.

Get a Welsh Terrier. My sister left hers with my parents on a permanent basis when she moved. Doesn't shed, mostly hangs out looking out the window. Loves to meander around outside but will gladly just guard the door. He's a bad motherfucker though. That thing will fight ANYTHING, and if he latches on, he is NOT letting go. Really smart dog, but a bit on the scary side if he's not in the mood to play.

Get a Boston Terrier... Badass small dogs... Or a smaller pitbull.. My brothers pit is a year old and weighs probably 50lbs but is short and really muscular... Not a big dog but not a kickin dog either...

Yeah I know they are ugly, but that's kind of what I like about them. Plus one of the guys at work just had a litter.

I can't really have a large breed dog. I don't have the time for a bigger dog. At least with a smaller dog I can crate it and it's easier to find people to dog sit if I go out of town.

Anyone have one?

Problems?

Thoughts?

Will it fit in your purse?

Yessir.. But then again, we rescued her from the pound and she was pretty much skin and bones. I'm going over there this weekend, I'll get some video, she's badass in how fast and powerful she is for her size. She's probably more like 55-60lbs... But pits in general shouldn't be anywhere near 100lbs! thats a bigass pit! Hell, my boston terrier/pit mix is only 40lbs....

Oh, and Matt, don't forget your dog purse.

You can get one in black...

I'm sure the possibilities are endless.

I'm gonna have to agree and say get a pit. Most of them are smaller unless they have American Staffordshire Terrier in their bloodlines, then they're huge.
As we've discussed here before, they're excellent family dogs and are great around people/children as long as you socialize them as a pup and spend some time with it. Any dog you get is going to require some time spent with it for at least the first year.

If I had it to do all over again I wouldn't get a dog. I love my dog but if I was single and had a social life the last thing I would want is something that takes maintence. You always have to go home and feed it orlet it out. Plus Dealership hours are long and that is alot of time that the dog is alone.

I'd love to get a Bulldog like your sisters, but they are like 2000 and I'm not spending that a dog.

MF'r I just laughed so loud the whole dealership heard me. +1 for that

It is cool having a dog, but it is very time consuming. I cant stay out late anymore if no one is around to watch the dogs, you gotta find someone to let them out during the day, its a pain. But when you come home and they are happy as hell to see you, then well its worth it. Te worst is when girls are like "what are you doing after this?" Me: " I gotta go home the dogs haven't been out in 8 hours." :( This calculates into Matt not getting laid :(

My wife wants one that's crossed with a beagle. They call them puggles (really). Apparently they're "the cutest ever".

my sister has one, i am actually at their house dog sitting for the week. I would have to say i hate this dog. whines, hyper, just a dumb dog. I have an english bulldog that is lazy and plays alittle hear and there, but she listens very well. I can't stand this dog!!!!

Dogs are too much work when u try and have a life.. I'd wait till next year when YOU'RE MARRIED
