The WTF do I do with my first house thread

So I bought a house I guess, inspection went well with no issues, but i've rented since I was 18 (28 now) and I have no clue what I need to do, what I need to put money into and how to deal with the whole thing.

It's a 2001 built 1950sq/ft bilevel with attached 2.5 car garage and half acre of land.

opinions?

you approved for a mortgage and all that?


then talk to the mortgage guy at the bank, he will help you through it I believe
 
it's already bought, 20% down 4.75% apr... closing in a few weeks, just not sure how to maintain a house so kinda nervous
 
Dont be like this guy here and work on everything at the same time. Do what needs to be done first, then what you'd like to do last. I deffinatly went the wrong way about it and gutted every room, I am still putting it back together.
 
Just throw a housewarming party and invite all of MM. The next day, fix whatever's broken. That should keep you busy. :lol:






Seriously, if the inspector didn't find anything that needs to be fixed, you can always paint walls. Is the garage finished? If not, try a shot at electrical (you need lots of outlets and lights), insulating, drywall, and paint. Plus you'll need a work bench out there. In the spring, you can fix up the lawn, plant flowers/bushes, cut the grass, and all of the outside stuff that I don't have time for anymore.
 
30 year loan, the house doesn't need anything, looks/shows as new... inspector commented on "only" 9" of insulation in the attic, garage will need insulated/drywalled and heated got a buddy to help with that, but as far as making the grass not look 100% ghetto no clue what to do there.

inspector also stated the furnace needs a "tune up" whatever that means, something about line pressure and flame pattern, apparently i can tune EFI but not furances *shrug*

I would pay a tech to do the furnace and watch him do it. You can rent the machine and add more insulation yourself. As for lawns look for something you like and try to makes yours like it.
 
Not to hijack your thread but what area is your house around. Just wondered. Not many people on here living in the Grand Rapids area. I'm in Grandville right now.

Walker/Kenowa Hills, 2 miles west of 196 between lake michigan & leonard, currently I live at brookghetto apartments in grandville
 
lol. I live a stones throw away from you. I live by the sub division across from the Honda dealership. There is also a Supercharged + N20 Viper that supposedly puts out around 1100 hp that lives right by me.

yeah he came up to me talkin shit at mobil recently, i tried to fight him out of his jeep but he told me "it's not like that" sayin i beat his viper or something? i was like lol i don't know any dudes with vipers and my shit runs high 11s on a good day i'm not fuckin with ur 1100 or 1500 hp viper or whatever yer doin, name's mike or something?
 
LOL. yeah his name is Mike. When my neighbor's camaro is done we are gonna try and catch up with him on the road. The camaro should be in the 10's club so we will see just how much hp the viper really has :gr_grin:
 
If you need or want help moving / lifting heavy stuff just give me a heads up on when your gonna move and i'll try and get a day or two off from work.
