well this is the story of my buddies 02 mustang. he got it 3 years ago as a very slow v6. and has now transformed it into a much different animal. just figured i'd post some pics up of the progress it's gone thru from when he got it to now. I know a lot of people always say they're going to do a v6 to v8 swap, but not many actually do them.

when it was a v6..

at ubly, ran a best of 14.9 at 91mph

on the dyno it made 161whp

then it all got serious...

with the v8 it made 262whp with full bolt ons and ran a best time of 12.9@107. so he gained 101 hp and dropped 2 seconds and picked up 16 mph. not too shabby for only paying 2500 for everything required. we did the work ourselves.

then added a cowl hood..

and then the 262 hp wasn't enough, so along came a little strim

got it tuned by x&m hotrods, on 17* timing it made 360whp, on 20* it made 421whp.

then he added some hoosiers and it was off to the track

now it goes under the knife yet again this winter for forged internals, ported heads, blower cams, and if the funds are there a blower upgrade.

all this happened in a timespan of about 4-5 months. in march is when the v8 swap started, then about july it got the strim, and now this winter even bigger.

Pretty cool stuff, but tell him to pull those damn stickers off the core support! I hate that!

Nice progress buddy!

IM2SLOW's '02 GT made 485 RWHP via a vortec blower and an UNTOUCHED 2 valve on 110 octane if I recall correctly.

and i'm guessing it didn't last very long after that either? lol. some 2v's are freaks but i've never heard of one taking 485whp and surviving very long.

It would probably do OKAY if the tune was there, but having to run 110 to make under 500 is kind of lame. My buddys 2V GT loved full bolt-on's and a 150 shot. Probably had 20 bottles through that thing and then traded it in on a truck, he left the kit on it LOL. That car was a lot of fun for $1,500 in mods.
