The sun doesn't lie....Cobalt detail.

Finally got around to detailing my Cobalt.

Process

Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo and 2 bucket method.
Dried with a Meguiar's Water Magnet (waffle weave).
Clayed using Smooth Surface Clay Kit.
Meguiar's Ultimate Compound with yellow polishing pad via G110V2 (this thing rocks)
NXT 2.0 with black finishing pad via G110V2.
Meguiar's Hot Shine on tires and wheel wells.

I didn't take any before pictures, but there were minor swirl marks here and there, as well as some marring from a neighbor kid that decided to use my car as a shield in a snowball fight. Thankfully, there was only one spot on the hood from his gloved hand.

This is the result of my test spot....Ultimate Compound finished LSP ready, to my surprise.

Since it finished so nicely, I was ready for my LSP. I chose NXT 2.0 because it creates more of a mirror look, and it really brings out metallic flake in paint.

Apply it thin!

After I let it cure for an hour, I removed the wax.

Now, for the sun pictures. Remember, the sun doesn't lie.

So, what do you think?

Looks great. Lots of pop from the flakes and the paint looks quite liquidy for being a metallic. Good to see people taking outstanding care of their car regardless of price - no doubt it looks better than brand new models still on dealership lots. Nice stuff!

That's a big compliment coming from you, Marc. Thanks! I hope to have half the skill with paint that you have.

Within the next month or so I should have a write-up of a black Silverado. It's swirly!

^ oooooohhhh black is always fun to work on as long as you can finish down well. The Dual Action polisher should make that easier no doubt.

damn nice work James! How much your charge to do this to the FX4? My A.D.D. kills me when i try to get into a project like this.

Not a thing. May have to pick up some supplies, but that's about it. We'll team up some time and go to town on it.

, at first it did. The gas savings over the Silverado pay the car note, though. So it's all good.

Big talk coming from a Saturn ION owner... :thefinger

dude I know your way smarter with your money than me and everyone else, but try to pick up a nice set of the polished SS rims, they would make your car look even better!

 Yeah right. As for the SS wheels, they're 5 lug and my Cobalt is 4 lug. :gr_jest:

Good work man! I wish I had that kind of motivation to do the MINI as it needs it badly lol.

Looks great!! I love the color, one of my fav. colors in GM pallet, lots of red & green pearl

I actually used this color on my Cobra....

Slate Metallic? Where did you use it at....thought it was black?

Thanks for the compliment, too.
