the new iPhone

That's about right. Anything older than the 4s and useablility and functionality may falter

I'll admit...I'm really f'ing dumb when it comes to this stuff. Will there be an update to iOS6 for the 4s, and will that have any benefits for 4s owners, or are all of these upgrades only on the 5?

Yes. The 4S is the only device that will see ALL of the advancements as far as the software. i didn't see when iOS6 is releasing, but I'm sure someone will post up on here when it does. When that happens, you can go into your settings on your phone and tell it to update. You'll need to be connected to WiFi and it will download and install the update. You *Shouldn't* have to connect to a PC.

The online reaction to the release seems to be pretty similar to that of the 4s. The hardcore fanboys are all erhmehghad about it while the majority seem pleased with some of the advancements, but feel a little disapointed or bored with it. I'm not sure what they expected. Gone are the days of Apple releasing a product that is truely revolutionary. They are playing catch up in some areas and the other areas they are playing on a level playing field with the competition.

Its the marketing that gets em. Apple could have a keynote speech about rubber dog shit and people would be lined up for preorders.

Apple knows how to differentiate themselves from the rest of the market. THe other companies need to do a better job with this. You have Ios and only iphones run on it. Then you have android, that has a million different manufacturers and phones. It creates confusion. Its all in the presentation of the product and Apple seems to do a good job at it.

It was ridiculous when it was flipped and it is ridiculous, but funny, now that the shoe is on the other foot. They all just need to knock this shit off though.

There was a news story on the radio the other day about how patents, specifically in the communications industry, are destroying competition and allowing monopolies to exist but legally since they are not stifiling competition directly but instead use patents to fight the wars they are not allowed to.

I am waiting for some company to come up with a revolutionary idea and patent it. Then liscense the patent based on one rule. (1) Don't be a dick.

The apple/samsung dispute could have been resolved pretty quick if they wern't so single minded. They should have been looking long term with the LTE setup.

I have Verizon and just switched from Android to an IPhone and I didn't have to give up my unlimited plan either. I just did mine 3 weeks ago.

I couldn't be happier either. My Android was garbage, It froze all the time and I always had to reset it, the battery life sucked and I killed my apps every time I was done using it. I like the Iphone's keyboard better, the internet layout better, and the facetime is pretty cool too. It's just as fast as my Android was.
