Let's look at the lives of 2 people:
Person A works hard in school, gets good grades, and attends college. She works through college and graduates in 4 years. After college she begins her career working hard to pay off student loans, pay for her healthcare, pay her bills, and save for retirement. Shortly after she obtains a very stable lifestyle, she considers marriage. After she is married, she and her husband decide to start a family. She works hard with her husband to save the necessary money to provide for and start a family. She and her husband have saved an emergency fund so they can provide for themselves and children in case one of them lose their job or they have a family emergency. They have 2 children. Over the next decade through hard work, career advancement, and sound investments, they have a combined income of over 250K, have substantial amount of money in savings, a fully funded retirement, and investments for their children’s college fund. This despite that they now pay over 40% in income taxes and fear that it will only increase as the Govt continues to increase the debt and increase entitlement spending.
Person B attends a public school. She barely makes grades necessary to pass each year. At age 17, she gets pregnant and drops out of school to care for the kid. She applies for and receives gov’t housing and income and quickly recognizes that she can obtain twice the amount by having more children. She has two more kids by two separate fathers. She is now broke, has 3 children, no ability to provide for them, and no necessary job skills. However, she does have govt housing and govt welfare that is in part heavily funded by person A. One day while sitting in her gov't subsidized house and eating a nice meal she bought from food stamps, she turns on her brand new TV, which she obtained with gov't funds to provide for her 3 children. On the television a new presidential candidate tells her that her present living condition and situation is not her fault. She is in her situation because evil rich people and corporations have taken advantage of her throughout her life. This candidate also has a plan to take a higher percentage of person A's income and distribute it to people like herself. Furthermore, she is entitled to free healthcare under his plan. She is all for the idea helps to vote the candidate into office. Shortly after elected, the new president raises the already high tax rate on person A. Person A now pays close to 50% of her earned money into federal income taxes. Person B is ecstatic. She now has free health care, a free house, and her welfare checks have been increased. She now has no need for a job and is not totally dependant on the gov’t.
Who is the real victim here???
