The Imperial Cruiser project

Love the purple. What color is it and who supplies it? I'm looking for a purple like that to paint the daughters wagon.

It's like a 5 step process. We mix paint where I work, I just picked a purple base coat I liked from the chip book. Then I sprayed the purple base, put a heavy coat of clear on, then used this to blow the dry flakes into the wet clear.

Then I had to bury the flakes with a shit ton of clear. Then a week later, sand it flat, I put more flakes down, this time I mixed them in the clear with a suspension gun so they lay more flat, then I put two coats of blending clear with some House of Kolor candy concentrate to alter the shade a bit to what I wanted, then more clear.

Then just wet sand and wheel.

The radiator tube was a little more simple process, it's a different effect, but a lot easier to do.

I put the hood on Friday (well me and 2 other guys, it's 7 feet long and weighs 200ish lbs) Still gotta clean some stuff under the hood, and I want to do some more striping still.

Lol thanks Mike. I took it out Saturday, it runs like a champ. Still have a couple bugs to work out, the automatic choke doesn't work right, and I don't like where the shift points are, but nothing major.

Thanks!! It's a shit ton of work, but worth the effort. I got one shot, but I didn't take any of it outside. I need to do that the next sunny day we get. It looks more blue than purple in my garage.
 
I love it. The purple flake looks AWESOME. I think doing some scallops the same color would look awesome....

Some 20 inch Intros would look sick on it!

Want to paint a roadster wagon body in that purple?
 
Well, I got the A/C charged up, worked most of the bugs out of everything, and now I'm gonna drive the wheels off this boat!!!! And stripe the shit out of it!!

I still gotta add to this.


I want to add a second and possibly a third color to the hood too.

Aww shit man, I forgot. Sorry. I just finished a couple other flaked out projects too. I didn't use the flake buster tho, it only works good on flat stuff. Anything with curves or contours I use a suspension gun and mix the flakes in with the clear. I'll try to remember to let you know next time I flake somethin.
