The de-man-ification of speakers

I dont have a pic of when the RE-30s were hooked up as well.

"No HIs, no LOWs, must be BOSE."

I was just going to say this! If you don't like highs, and you don't like lows, get Bose!

It's all about the inverted tuba. You can make some awesome speakers for very cheap if you know what you are doing. They build a 50,000 watt speaker out of snow at my school every year, and it sounds good... I guess 50+ MTX subs will do that.

That's not me there. I just found that picture on google. But that picture is from 2011 I think.

Hell yeah, I love it. Just wish the room was larger. Its the lower level of a bi-level house. I think I actually hurt on of the woofers the other day play some Young Jeezy lol. The foam started to dry rot so its time to fix them. Any place local that you'd recommend to do it?

Replacing foams isnt that hard, especially on a Cerwin Vega. Heres the one you need. http://www.simplyspeakers.com/cerwin-vega-speaker-foam-edge-repair-kit-fsk-15ar.html Better take it easy on those until you put the new foam in, you may get voice coil rub. You can play them, but dont beat on em.

Paradigms are great...no transition there. Companies have all but abandoned the large box with a big woofer, for a slimmer one with multiple woofers.
I thought they sounded amazing... untill I bought these.

after that i thought i wasted my money....

One trick you can try is inverting the woofer. If the voice coil is off-center, gravity has a good chance of putting it back.

Shit mike...Those OHM's kick ass. I was just telling someone today about them.

I love and hate high end audio. I was completely fine with Bose being the best quality audio I've ever heard. That shit isn't really pricy and you can find it everywhere.

Then, I heard music on a real setup. Now I love high end audio. I can't listen to shitty speakers anymore. I used to think my "premium bose system" in my Suburban was the cats ass. Now it all sounds muddy. And I hate when my friends tell me about their 'super awesome' bose sound system in their house. I feel like such a snob when I laugh and tell them their shit blows goats for quarters. Well...I'm not really that harsh. Most of the time I just nod and say something like.."I'm glad you like your setup." It depends on who I'm talking to. I myself have a pair of Energy RC30's, a Energy 10in subwoofer, Definitive center and Onkyo receiver. Still beginners stuff, but it blows any bose shit or theatre in a box out of the water. I also have a Klipsh 12 inch woofer that does not power on anymore. I have to somehow get it fixed. I think it needs a new board. It keeps blowing fuses the second it turns on.

I hate wall hung TV's. Still bumping my 10 year old JBL's, although I did have to replace the sub about 5 years ago.

Ohm makes very good stuff. The best part about them, is they still stock EVERYTHING for every speaker theyve ever manufactured. Crossovers, foam surrounds, woofers, tweeters, etc...they still have and make it all. I cant think of any other company, audio or not, that offers components for something thats up to 35 years old. Well...now that I think of it, there is one more, Altec Lansing, the speakers in my original post. When the Altec Lansing name was sold off to the Chinese, many of the engineers bought the tooling and started their own company, Great Plains Audio. Great Plains Audio manufactures brand new parts to original specs on original tooling, and sells it as new. So youre essentially getting exactly what you wouldve bought from 1937 on up. Its nice to see that some companies dont mess with throw-away electronics and want to put out a product thats tried and true, and has replacement parts ready available.

My made-in-the-USA beautiful monster speakers…

So, I think I want to pick up this Elemental Designs sub and 7 of these speakers for my home theater set up. Then make the CV's a dedicated 2.0 system.

That sub is a 15" with a 500wrms amp. It should suffice lol
