Picked these up for $100 today from a pawn shop. They need a refoam, but other then the usual nicks and scratches, they're in good shape.

i have a big ass untested electro voice amp AP2600A i put on craigslist but nobody has called.. anybody on here want it for $12?

Which sub? You can roll your own very cheap. Get a pair of Eminence Alpha 15As: http://www.parts-express.com/eminence-alpha-15a-15-driver--290-407 and put them in MJK H-frames: http://www.quarter-wave.com/OBs/U_and_H_Frames.pdf The dimensions of the H-Frames are 17" x 17" x 17", with the baffle sitting in the middle of the cube. The speaker goes on the baffle in the middle. boosted gts EV amp listed above would complement them nicely, and theyll give a very detailed bass without sounding boomy. Open baffle woofers have a huge advantage in that they are not adversely affected by room reflections. You can build 2 with brand new components for ~$300. You will spend double that or more on a decent consumer-grade subwoofer.

This sub. Looks like I can get it for 279 shipped.

Will have to look into building one as well.

The physical dimensions of the frame itself are a little more compact depth-wise than the Eminence Alpha 15A H-Frame. The outer dimensions are 21” wide, 21” tall, and 16”
deep. The baffle is made from a 20” square of ¾” thick plywood with the Goldwood woofer cut-out centered. The 18" goes flat to 18Hz...pretty much unheard of in subs under the $500 price point.

Im getting a little static through my speakers.. Home theater.

Ive got my receiver in a closet and All the wires are hidden in the walls to my front 3 speakers. Im running an HDMI extender with Cat6 cable. When Im watching the cable and its up to an extra medium volume it has some crackling, Like static. I have not tried to adjust the dial on the HDMI extender yet. Can I have screwed up running the wires so close together? or an I safe because its all low voltage? The HDMI extender is amplified and the receiver and the transmitter both plug in. The wire situation behind my amplifier is kinda a shit storm. I haven't touched anything yet I set it all up to make sure it worked before cleaning every thing up. All the wires are run together in the wall.

Got any suggestions where to start looking?

Yamaha receiver, Martin Logan motion 8 center channel and paradigm towers.

I think its my ribbon tweeter on the center channel... Its brand new... Could there be a break in period?

Low voltage runs shouldn't cause you static unless they're crossing over power mains. Check the gain on the HDMI extender, too much could cause you issues. That said, is it just the center channel getting static? Could be a defective ribbon in the Martin Logan, they shouldn't crackle regardless of any break in period. Have you tried swapping it with another speaker to see if you get the same results?

lets say im ordering a normal style tweeter. When it shows the 3 bolt holes in a triangle is that an industry standard? One of the tweeters on my towers failed and im trying to get a replacement. The dome is 26mm and the magnet is 68mm What would I have to look for when buying a replacement?

What kind of speakers are the towers? I'd get factory originals, mixing in different tweeters can throw off the crossover design.
