The ask Tin about audio thread

Those IBs look pretty bad ass. Ive seen a few setups where guys used a 30" Electro Voice 30W driver in IB and the bass response is right around 14Hz. Those drivers dont come cheap though, they were only used in the Electro Voice Patrician 800, which is about a $30k per pair speaker, and the drivers themselves going for $3000 to $6000 depending on condition. Heres a speaker that uses 3 of the 30Ws for bass, then 15" JBLs for mids, and a huge JBL horn for the highs.

Id love to hear it, but honestly, thats way too much for me. You gotta draw the line somewhere

OK, so I'm using the factory Delco AM radio, a cheap FM converter and a Bowman Astrosonix 8-Track tape player. I'm looking at getting a reverb unit from a '67 Imperial. I have a front and rear speaker. If I buy the reverb (already out of the car), how do you wire this into the system if it didn't come with one?

Youll have to figure out a way to splice it in between the input and amplifier portion of the head unit. Im not familiar with car radios as old as that one, but I dont think itll be overly hard as most electronics of the day were rather simple point-to-point wired systems.

Got the speakers in finally

I went with the XPA-3 thinking I would install a center channel but I have a stud that is DEAD center on the TV, so it may not happen. Worst case I move the XPA-3 upstairs to power the LCR and pickup a XPA-2 to power these 2 channels.

I need a solid sub now. Speaker sound great but without the lower frequencies your just dont get "it"

I have a ASW-2500 with a bad amp and have been crawling ebay looking for plate amps...well see.

Over time. Over budget. Amazing.

Youre going to love it. If it needs lamps, theres a local guy on Craigslist that sells everything needed to restore it to factory condition. ;)

Might pick those up...I'll email the guy. Trying to slowly put together a little system for my small living room in my condo.
