That's All Folks

Tuesday was my last day of class. After two and a half years I'm done. I certainly feel odd knowing that I don't have to go to class. At the moment I'm waiting for a start date as an intern. Don't want to mention the company until I get my start date. I'll certainly miss going to class and operating a SV-10, surfacing a set of cylinder heads, strapping a car down to tune it, and running engines on the engine dyno. I'll post a thread in the photo/video section of my final project. We took LM4 5.3 blocks and turned them into LM4 5.7 engines. I had a blast and learned a ton. Even learned how to install a sleeve or two. My partner and I cam in second. We were 8HP/8TQ behind the leader. Guess I can handle that. I finished the class with an A+. That took a ton of hard work and dedication.
I'm heading back to the D on Jan 2 and will be there until the 18th or so depending on how long I'm stuck serving jury duty.

Congrats on graduating. I remember that day and it certainly was a load off my mind. Now you get to start post-school "life".

Is the new job up here or down in STL?

Florida actually. Who knows after that.
Awesome , congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you.
Congratulations!
Thank you.
Congrats! I graduated yesterday and start my new job on January 2nd!
Thank you and congratulations to you too.

Congratulations! I hope you get a job even half as nice as a
good friend of mine got recently at Toyota (he sets up dynos
& does testing too) he doesn’t have a degree and started at
$27 per hour!

He also just picked up his Toyota company program car.
It’s a lease that includes ALL maintenance, insurance &
30,000 miles per year (4 year lease) all for $300 per month!!!!

Sounds like there are still some very good automotive jobs out there!

Just got the start date for my internship, so I guess I can tell you all what I get to do. I'm going to work for SCT in their calibration and engineering department. Essentially I get to learn the tuning software from the inside out. I get to spend Feb, March, and April in Florida. Good bye winter, hello sunshine and short weather.

Cool. Isn't that where Matt Harlan went?

Nevermind... He's at Diablosport.

I'm really excited. The only reason I'm waiting so long to get down there is because I have to pack the car and make a two day drive.

Where in FL are you going to be? Orlando? There are a few guys on the board down here.

Yes, the Sanford/Orlando area. From what I'm hearing, I don't think I want to live in Sanford, just work there. Ideally I'd like to find a little place on the beach and commute to work.

The beach is 45 min to an hour away. With traffic, you don't want to live in Orlando. You'll probably want to find a place between Altamonte Springs and DeLand. Some parts of Sanford isn't bad.

Well ladies and gents, I leave for Florida tomorrow morning. I'm taking two days to make the roughly 16 hour drive. I can only stand being in the car for about ten hours. The plan is to stop somewhere in Atlanta and spend the night, then finish the drive into Orlando Saturday morning. I start work bright and early at 10:00 AM Monday morning.
When I got back to St. Louis Jan 18 the thought of moving had me terrified, excited, and nervous. Now that I have an address, even though it's an Extended Stay, I'm excited. I'm looking forward to warm weather and spending time at different racing venues while I'm there. I'm also looking forward to learning tuning software. The good Lord willing, I'll make it back to the D for the Dream Cruise with the GTO in August.

You stalking me? I have a great Uncle in both locations.
