got a th350 with a manual rev valve body

got the car together and trans worked as it should

couple miles later reverse stopped working but 1-2-3 work just as they should


what am i looking at?

In a th350 trans, two clutch packs have to come on for reverse.
The low reverse pack and the direct (or also referd to as third and reverse).
Since you have third gear, your problem is with the low reverse clutch pack located in the very rear of the trans.
You need to cover all of the basic items, such as fluid level, shifter adjustment, line pressure.
Does reverse feel like netural or does the vehicle feel locked up (unable to rev engine freely?)
Your failure does not sound like a simple fix.

the motor is under load when its in reverse

fluid level and shifter adjustment all seemed fine


i did drop the pan the last night to try and get a better clue and there was 2 thin long aluminum strips in there if that provides anymore clues....

will i hurt the trans more if i continue to drive on it?

How about park and neutral. Will the engine free rev in both, or does the vehicle move forward?

ill have to check tmrw, i dont recall neutral or park causing the car to move tho
