Teach me about 2010-2012 SHO's

Sold my GTO this week, no I'm on the hunt for a new ride. One of the 2 vehicles I'm considering is a used 2010-2012 SHO (other is a TL-SH). I know nothing about them, and figured the plethora of Ford folks on here know a thing or 2 about them.

Why it's on my list:
- Need a larger sedan to fit a infant carrier comfortably in the backseat
- I'm 6'7"
- Used their priced pretty well, I'm looking 25 or less.
- It seems like the perfect DD after just selling my toy

I am concerned about reliability for some reason. Problems due to boost worries me a little, as does the trans. Another concern is my price range puts them right at warranty expiration. Most Ford dealers will carry out the 7/100 powertrain and another 12/12 for limited, but not having a warranty is concern.

What should I look out for, or avoid? Just checked one out @ lunch, man are the huge.

The rear diff is a weak link for those awd SHO's and some tend to have interior buzzes/rattles that may annoy some. Dont know if Ford addressed any of that as more were produced.

Had one, gave it to my dad. It's a 2010 with Livernois stage 4 tune. Car has 60 k on it, still runs 12s and never in dealer. Only issue I have had is some interior raddles with moonroof and dash.

No tech here, but a little bit of personal experience.
Took a 2010 out of state for a week...put about 1500 miles on it. Liked it a lot. Great highway car, excellent roll-on acceleration, good handling, road noise was acceptable, comfortable, but needed slightly better brakes for my taste (seemed a bit weak given the mass of the vehicle).
Overall, if it fit my lifestyle I'd happily own one.
Good luck.

If you like G8's they can be had with lower miles for under $20k

I came out of a GTO, I'm quite familiar with the G8s, and judging by the ad that one is a horrendous example. Intake filter, exhaust piping, ricer headlights. I just sold what was most likely my last gm product ever. The righteous self minded don't give a damn about the customer treatment I received has convinced me otherwise.

Sold the wife's Pontiac last year for a brand new Acura, and couldn't be happier. I'll gladly go that route again, just for the sake of customer service, and lack of shotty quality to have to bring it in to the dealer in the first place. A GM vehicle is not on the table.

After looking at the exterior dimensions, I'm doubting it will fit in my damn garage. I have 17' of space nose to tail, and that'd be tapping the front end on the work bench, with no room to walk in front or behind. Damn "2" car garage.

2011+ Dodge Charger R/T? My nieces husband is 6'7" also and he has no problem fitting in his comfortably.

Plus, if you can get a Chrysler employee discount, they are offering smoking lease deals on them right now so you can get a brand new one pretty cheap. I would guess under $300/ month. My nieces husband got a similar deal on his last year. I think he went $1700 out of pocket and leased around $270/month for 2 yr, 24K miles on friends and family (not even employee).

The new Taurus' are large on the exterior, but no that large on the interior. Also because it was built on the platform that also gave you the Volvo XC90, it's heavy. Without pulling out the Monrony, memory says the curb weight is about 4400lbs.

They are fat pigs, you are correct they tip the scales @ 4400lbs. But damn impressive how well they move out.

I'm thinking of selling mine.
I love it, by far the best daily driver I've ever owned. If I didn't need a vehicle that could tow more I wouldn't even consider selling it.
It's quick, quiet, very roomy (I'm average 5'11" 185lbs). Just drove up to Traverse this past weekend and was averaging 27mpg.
PM me if you're interested in my car. It's a 2010 with 32k on it.

Please don't spit your milk out....but what about an Infinity G37x (awd) actually more room inside than a Taurus. I know they're slower but the price is right in line. They have tons of features, a little boring looking outside.

Not offended in the least bit. I was thinking of it, but figured its too small. The M would be more in line with the size we need, but that just too much $, and I don't think the M has as outstanding of reliability as the G

Ya I just posted it cause it was cheap... and lower miles.
It's only ricer when the headlights are aftermarket and the wing is 14ft tall.
Those headlights are an easy fix

But I understand not wanting another GM if you've had bad luck with them in the past... me, I've had good luck with them and wont buy anything else

^Ya that seemed like a good price. new headlights and youd have a perfect DD. I was thinking about it but dont know much about G8s.

Have rental Taurus right now. My only complaint is the seat base cushion is at least 2 inches two short. 4 hour ride through the rockies yesterday and my right leg is still numb. I'm only 5'11.
