Talk to me about the G8's...

So I'm seriously considering picking up an '09 G8 GT. Since I know very little about the lsx platform, what would it take to get 450 crank hp put of one of these? Cam, intake and headers?

And why the hell isn't there a nav option on these damn things??

My wife has a 09 G8 GT 6.0 , We love it, average 26-27 mpg on the E-way, best car we have ever owned

I loved mine, I'm just ready for something new. I have 101k miles and I've not had a single issue with anything. Navigation was an option on the Australian counterpart, and you can buy the plastic replacement pieces and put a Garmin in place of what came from the factory, but it costs a ton to do it. It looks O.E. when you're done, but the replacement dash piece is like $500 or something stupid shipped from Australia.

With my mods (intake, exhaust, headers), I dyno about 370 at the wheels at Livernois. Honestly, with the mods you mentioned you would probably be over 450 at the crank fairly easily.

Nice! Very good to know. I'm going to drive one tonight to see how it stacks up against an 09 535i.

Thanks guys!

FYI, I couldn't stand how the transmission shifted before I got it tuned. It felt extremely slow to shift from one gear to the next, in both up and down shifts. After the tune, it's 10x better. I've had it for years and ~70k miles or so, and would never own another G8 without it. So if you feel the same thing, just look past it because the tune fixes it entirely.

Is your car still for sale Ryan?

Yep. I just listed it on some of the forums last week and planned on putting it on Autotrader this week.

I thought so. I have had my GXP Grand Prix for sale on CL for about 7 or 8 weeks now. 4 or 5 calls, they're all kids with no money. They all sound 17. I listed it on Autotrader about 3 weeks ago. 2 calls...one from Minnesota sounded promising, but never heard back. Nobody has any money man. It's sad. GLWS Ryan.

We were able to sell Andis G6 in about 2 weeks. I had 3 or 4 young kids from Craigslist write me, but nothing came of that. I met two 50-something guys who were looking for their kids and the second guy said he was coming with his wife and daughter and they were bringing cash, and he actually left with the car that same day.

I love my G8. You can clearly tell GM was going through bankruptcy when this car was built because some interior buttons were not switched when it was changed from right hand drive. For instance the heater and radio control are actually backwards.

G8's are great cars and seem to hold their value well (especially GXP's). They respond well to mods and get gear mileage.
And for 45k no one will buy it......it's essentially a g8 for sustainably more
Wow, I didn't know they were going to be prices like that. I actually sold a 9,000 mile manual trans GXP with Livernois Stoker, heads, cam, headers, Corsa, Rotofab, and eibach springs for 41,000.. I think new with rebates it was high 30's.

The g8s resale has been phenomenal, particularly for a domestic.

The killer is going to be lack or rebates, gm never does much of anything for the first few years on the new models. The idea of the car is a great idea. however, execution, market pricing and placement are piss poor thus far. Don't get me wrong, I hope it sells like crazy, but who is really going to shell out that for a Chevrolet sedan?

I'll buy one. GXP's were over $40K IIRC sticker and this will have substantially upgraded electronics and interior I think its a decent buy considering what the GXP's were marketed at.
