My buddy is trying to off his 03 cobra, and is giving me an amazing deal. i just sold the gto so have the money to go ahead and just finance this again. payments would be around 300 bucks a month and insurance 120. is it worth taking on the extra payment right before winter to just let it sit?

im thinking so because the deal is almost too good to pass up, but its such a tough decision!!!

I vote negative.
An amazing deal is one you can afford :D

Those cars are overrated anyway, it will never compare to the LS1 you currently have. I say let it pass.

Im doing it right now with my 04 cobra. Payments considerably higher than yours and it just sits. Kinda sucks but its worth it in the spring. And with the gas prices dropping the value in the spring might be more than you can get it for now. Go for it:cheers:

If it's the Cobra I am thinking it is then I would not do it. I know it will still be around come spring because it has a TON of miles on it. People who are seriously interested in 03/04 Cobra's rarely look for high mileage ones.

I say wait until spring, save the money, and buy then.

I wouldn't do it before winter. Think about it. December to April is 1500 bucks down the tube for a car you can't drive, plus the insurance. My buddy hates his Lightning. It sits 8 months out of the year and he pays over 300 per month for it, plus insurance. I'd wait til spring, save that 1500-1800 bucks you'd be wasting over the winter and put more on the principal.

If you decide to do it, there is a storage full coverage insurance that can be bought for a car you don't drive. I've had it on several cars thru winters from Allstate. It was a lot less than normal full coverage.

I just sold the GTO so have the money to go ahead and just finance this again.

You have the money to finance?

I wouldn't be in a hurry to borrow money for a toy, especially one that is going to be sitting unused for months.

Maybe wait until you can pay cash..

why dont you buy a real muscle car (ls1) or maybe my chassis an not have to worry about loosing to me or any other ls1 cars:uzi:

Have fun with shitty IRS, a car that has been beaten to death, tons of miles, and has seen snow more than likely.

It better be a smokin' deal like less than $15,000. Even then I wouldn't do it.

Well lets be realistic also, what was the purpose of selling the GTO, if you were trying to get out of the payments of the GTO to offset other debt I would say no, but if you sold the GTO to get another car then I suppose get the cobra unless you wanted something a bit cheaper, for 300 a month im thinking he is selling you the car for around 17-20k depending on your credit score, which is a great price for a cobra but im sure you could find a ls1 mod it and make it faster for a lot cheaper :)

Yeah it is.

Unless I am missing something as to why everyone wants a solid swap?

Nobody wants wheel hop on their 10 second car.

weight reduction is a huge factor as well you can loose about 145 pounds by swaping to a solid. there are plenty of 10 sec cars with IRS. Its not shitty, just wasnt made for "drag racing" only like a soild is.

But to the OP id just save till spring time and get a bigger down payment

Yeh I agree. It's the winter time now. No RWD v8 car is going to sell. Odds are it will still be around in the spring and you will have saved yourself the money and set yourself up for an even better deal.

But in all seriousness you could make an LS1 eat that car up for a lot cheaper.
