Tablet users?

I'm considering buying a tablet probably android based. I think the ipad is just hype doesnt do anything for me really. However, i could be mistaken. A few of my friends have them. So far what i have witnessed is the Acer A500 will outrun the ipad2 on the same WiFi connection. The ipad 2 was bought around christmas the acer is only a few days old so i'm not sure if their is some big technology jump that has happened in the meantime. I haven't done much research on them yet but figured i would ask if anyone has them and what their thoughts are on the paticular model they have. I will probably use it most for portability at school and want something i can take notes on easily.

Want the most bang for the buck. I was told the sony or the asus transformer are top notch units. But they cant justify the $200 price increase over the acer.

ask yourself. what are you really going to do with it.

I have 3 tablets, I use it maybe once/twice a week. My wife uses her more often now that she's on maternity leave.

My HP touchpad (with android OS) works great for what I do.

iPad 3 is faster than the iPad 2 of course. And the screen is by far the best you can get right now. The iPad 2 is a year old.

I really don't use mine that much because I have a laptop and an iPhone. But it's perfect for surfing the web and playing games, and using apps like IMDB for those 'what movie is that guy in' when you're on the couch. If I didn't have the other 2 devices I would use it a lot more.

I use my iPad (3) every single day and I have a monster tower that I rely on for real work. I'm using it right now. :)

I have an asus tf101 and the keyboard dock . The quality and the reliability is top notch. The customer support and update support is the best in the industry. Asus has already updated it to ICS 4.0.3 . When there is a problem, asus comes to the online forums to fix problems and concerns .

You can get the original transformer with 32 gb for 349 at best buy : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+...218583712460&skuId=4960576&st=tf101&cp=1&lp=2

A500 here. Works great, I love it. The usb port is nice. Runs smooth. Only thing I think could be better would be the buttons for volume and screen shift. Other than that, I love it.

I have an HP Touchpad running CM9. I like it a lot (especially since I only paid $149) but there are a few things that I wish it did have. My biggest want is an SD card slot. I would like to be able to transfer files from my camera directly to it when I'm away from home and a real computer. Being able to mount a usb drive would be great too. The next tablet that I buy will be able to do it. My friend has a Transformer Prime with the keyboard and it has an SD slot on the side of the tablet as well as a real usb port on the keyboard dock.

I wouldn't count on taking notes on a tablet. Even with a keyboard it would be a pain, IMO. If you're planning on doing lots of typing, I don't think you can replace a laptop. Posted from my macbook pro, sitting in class. :D

Maybe a Netbook would do ya good...

I have a 10" Dell netbook that I used before the tablet. The only time it gets used now is to tune my cars or to update my tablet/phone for the few times that they can't be flashed directly. (So less than once a month.) That said, I've never been a fan of note taking on a computer. I always preferred using paper and pencil. We did use Blackboard in grad school so I needed my laptop to view documents online during class. Anyone know if the web interface for Blackboard works well with mobile browsers?

It really comes down to how you intend to use the device.
I have an 11'' MacAir as well as an iPad3. The Air is great for when I need to do a fair amount of typing.
The iPad is terrific for traveling and makes a nice couch buddy.
The best deal I've seen is to buy a used/refurbished iPad 2 for $300ish.

I have an iPad2, its pretty cool decently fast that being said if I would not have used our rewards points system at work I never would have pulled money out of my pocket for one. I like it but not for the price they ask, if I had to replace it I would likely get a droid.

Thanks for the replies.

Notes will be taken via Stylus on screen. I can't type fast enough to save my life. Have to be able to access blackboard and i can't think of the name of the other one at the moment. Too much brain power drained during class. We get home work quizzes that are time based. I usually run out of time trying to dig through my homework to find the problems she is asking for. She waits til the end of a chapter and pics 10 random problems and gives us 5-8 minutes. She usually gives us about 50-200 problems per section (CH.=4 to 8 sections). So i may be digging through 60 pages or so to find the ones she is asking for. If i can sort them in seperate files on a tablet i can find them in one touch and allow myself time to actually complete the problem. Which means i may actually be able to get full credit for once.
