t56 rebuild

i've cracked the rear of my t56 but haven't gotten too far into it so far.

i want to do steel forks and replace the syncro's, how hard is it to take apart? i did the m5r2 in my sisters tbird supercoupe and it was pretty simple. if i remember right the gears in the t56 are all press fit and require an arbor press. how hard do they usually come off? will a mechanical arbor press be sufficient or should i have a hydrolic press to do it?

so require the press and some don't
mine came apart without a press but I needed one to reinstall a syncro hub

I thought it was pretty simple. It barely fit in my 12 ton press. Should fit in a 20 ton easily. You have to make your own puller with some long arms to get some of the gears off.

yeah. you may need an extended puller for 5-6th gears but some slide right off. for the hubs I used a bearing separater in a press.
Ohh. take note where the o-ring goes by 5-6. Saso said it was just for assemble but that was after I scratched my head for hours trying to figure out what it was for

The "O Face Ring" was to hold the Output Shaft Bearing on during assembly....
