Switching Back to Comcrap

2 years ago my Comcast bill went from something $169 to $209 or somewhere around there. So, I switched back to Wow and while it is Okay, their internet service has been up and down for the past couple of months, plus it has gone up $15 over the past few months. It just means time to switch back......

Comcast has their fastest Blast home internet service (I think) and all channels and movie channels for $149 plus 2 more HD boxes for a total of $169 plus another $20 for taxes and fees..I read that they have a one terabyte limit, but the sales person said it is an un-enforced monthly 250gb limit.

I work at home several days a week and am always transferring drawing files back and forth and some can be as large as a gb. Does anyone ever see their service slowed down? I don't have Netflix, but my daughter is always watching it. Does that count against the download? How much is 250GB anyway? 1/2 of a hard drive, I know...

Can someone set me straight? Just let me know what is the best option.....

Thanks............grr

I have a number for you from another door to door guy, he gave me a smoking deal that I haven't pulled the trigger on. If you want......

Comcast doesn't throttle their complete service after the 250GB are used up, but they may throttle certain services such as Netflix and bittorrent.

I'm thinking about ditching Wow if you don't mind could you Pm me the phone #.

I wonder if your issues with WOW were related to the modem they were renting to you. I've had them for 6 years now in 2 different locations (Sterling Hts, Warren) and only had issues with my service twice when they were upgrading infrastructure. I've always purchased my own modems since the ISPs generally rent out the cheapest units available. I usually call them up once a year and haggle with the customer retention department and negotiate a lower price. I get 110Mb service with no cap and a CableCARD (card for decrypting up to 6 concurrent HDTV streams) for $75 per month as of right now.

Always use the door to door guys. My Girlfriend works at Comcast and she always says those guys can give the lowest rates.

Just switched mine from wow to Comcast yesterday. I've had Wow for about 4-5 years. Last year they jacked up my price and I called and bitched and they lowered it. Went up this year and they would only lower it $5. So well see how Comcast treats me this time.

Anyone want to use the referral program? I am an existing comcast guy and I think they do reward cards now also

Yep, send it along. I haven't seen a door to door guy in quite some time now....

Not a clue what this means. I know I can buy a modem, but I just don't know what to do with it after I have it in my hands.......

There is something wrong with my modem because it somehow changed names and the wireless stopped working because of the name change. But, everything worked if it was hardwired to the modem. I re-booted it at least 5 times and it kept the same new name with its new unknown password. I called their tech support and waited for 30+ minutes to talk to a tech guy and he told that yep, the router somehow changed names and he didn't know why. He told me to re-boot it and I told him I already did that multiple times, but he went ahead and remotely did it again...Nothing, same problem. He told me he didn't know what was wrong, but wait a day or two and call back if it doesn't fix itself. I told him I already waited 30 minutes to talk to him and if it doesn't work, I get to wait another 30 minutes? No response from him and so I left it at that.

So, that was the final straw and had that chain of events not happened, I probably wouldn't have been changing back to Comcast.....

For future reference, when you call to negotiate a price, go directly to customer retention and not the sales department. The sales department will get your bill down, but not nearly much as an employee whose job it is to keep you as a customer.

In your case, you'd need a modem and a wireless router. With the modem, you call the ISP and give them the serial number, they send a signal down the line to authenticate it then it's active. Afterwards, run a cable from the modem to your router and you're up and running.

Every once in a while my bill from Comcast will rocket up, I call, threaten to cancel everything and it goes way back down. It's just like a gym where they hope it's too much hassle to call and you'll just let it ride at the higher rate. Super fucking annoying. Can't argue with the service though, and I never notice it get slowed.

I called Thomas and I switching back next Friday. He can give you a little off, but not like they used to.....

So what is everyone's verdict on this. I am cancelling ATT next month and am thinking about switching to Comcast. I have my hacked firestick so I am looking for internet only. Should I try and find a door to door salesman or go with the guy who was mentioned earlier in this post?
