Are these bikes even worth while ??? i got offered one and i am not to sure about it, also it will be my first bike so i am not looking to go 200mph on 2 wheels just yet :icon_hamm

Good entry level bike that you should be able to pickup for a decent price. Not the fastest out there, but definately fast enough to get hurt real quick on.

They're ok bikes. Stable to ride, not fast enough to jerk the tire unless you dump the clutch or do something stupid. (assuming you mean 600) They are oil cooled bikes, so you have to keep them moving, they don't do well in stop and go on hot days. Over all easy bike to learn on, decent on power enough to have fun but not scare the shit out of you. Personally i would look into a used YZF 600 R It's the older carbed R6 motor on a steel frame. Easy to ride, water cooled, and comfortable. But if the deal on the Katana isn't bad, jump onit. Post details They are ruggid and put up with abuse.

I got one way back in the day for my first bike, put it together from a basket of parts and rode the crap out of it for a few years...It was a fun bike but like everyone said not the fastest bike by any means but was good enough for what i wanted to do with it..

Older katans are quite heavy from what I remember, which is something you might want to stray away from, they're a lot harder to learn on and to control.

Good to learn on (much better than a newer 600), just don't pay anything over $2,000. They're ugly and the 90's paint jobs don't help. Might be hard to re-sell.

more like mopeds than sport bikes

lol

I always used to shake my head no at the guys on mopeds that tried to give me the motorcycle wave. Always felt you don't even have a clutch your not in the club!! I made the No head shake very obvious as well lol.

its a 2000 750cc katana its dark green and black i dont care for them very much but alot of people say there a good starter bike, i really dont care as long as it gets good gas mileage and is p**** magnet LOL

katana 750 is going to be big, heavy, and have a bit of power for a first bike.

In perspective the 600 katana is 469 dry, the 750 will have that much more motor and when you add in gas and fluids, I'm going to guess probably around 575 off the top of my head. A ninja 250 is going to be around 350wet

a friend of mine has a 250 ninja and hates it because of the lack of power but i can deal with the heavyness i need to the work anyways lol

I'll agree with that the 250's are fairly slow and they really do not have the power to get out of their own way, I guess it's all up to you, the katanas from what I heard are fairly decent bikes, I haven't heard much bad about them, just know it's going to be a pretty heavy first bike and pretty powerful for what it is.

A katana is not a p magnet. The bike has to be sexy in order for girls to like it. Do yourself a favor get moped.

Bwahahahah...most chicks don't know the difference, and i think teh 2000 is the "updated" looking versions. They get about 40 MPG depending how you drive. The 750 is decently quick for it's weight. (neing a katana) I've ridden both the 600 and 750. THe 750 handles the weight better with power, but still barely beat my YZR 600R so it's maybe a 12.00 bike with a crap rider on it. But as i said before, they take a beating...
