hey guys, some great info on here,I have a 1986 stang gt convert.5-speed with a 306 sbf AFR heads,177 cu.roots supercharger that is making 411 hp at the tires and seriously need to hook this up somehow. What I currantly have is lakewood uppers with megabite lowers, stock rear springs w/airbags,BFG drag radials, frame is tied and the front has a tubeular k-member w\a arms and coilover kit on struts. Its looking like on here Im going to need strange shocks and struts and replace my upper control arms to some adjustables.Any guidence here would be appreciated. Thanks

come on guys alot of you know what you are doing,I can tell by reading the post, just looking for some advice on a setup for my convertible fox body,I know they are a little bit heavier than a hatch. Anyone.............:smoke:

awesome,I appreciate the response, from some of the pics Ive looked at on here,TeamZ does some incredible work,I will keep you in mind cause I dont know anybody around my area that does the kind of work you guys do on the fox bodies. Thanks:cheers:

Dave is a good guy. He won't do you wrong.

is there a club or say a group of fox bodies that get together on the weekends down around your area that cruise around and just hang out for an evening. There really isnt anything going on around here except a bunch of older guys and gals that hang out at Advance Auto Parts with old cars and such, not that theres anything wrong with that.Theres just something about the mustang that you just want to be part of if you know what I m:gr_drivinean.

I would get a 2step limiter and work on launch RPM. Thats alot of TQ and a really hard hit on those tires. You could try some Mickeys and a 2 step.

I've never heard of a 2-step limiter, does that have to do with your rpm when your launching? Also when I do get the car to start hooking,I'm going to need to put some good axles into the car as i've been reading alot of people breaking stock axles,is this true? And if so what is recommended?

Yes, a two-step sets a launch RPM. You should upgrade your axles and either have 9" ends welded on or c-clip eliminators installed while you're at it. A 31 spline Moser or Strange axle would work.

where can I get one of these 2-step set up's and also I would probably have to run slicks at the track so my question is will my world class T-5 hold up to the torque? Thanks

DR's can be really hard on axles because of wheel hop. So even for the street a good set of axles would be worth the money.

I ran a T-5 into the 10's, but it won't hold for long. In my experience, clutch set-up becomes an important part of making the trans live. I ended up switching to a G-Force T-5 set-up and never had any issues, but again, clutch set-up is important.

Also, you can buy an MSD two-step from Summit or Jegs.

G-Force does seem to be the way to go,going by what alot of you guys recommend, what is the preferred flywheel to run with that set-up? Thanks for the great info, you guys rock.

I've used both billet steel and aluminum. I had to up my launch RPM a bit with the aluminum one, but keep it in to save the rotating weight. I also have a lightened pressure plate.

Personally, I wouldn't be doingall this to a vert. They're for crusing if you ask me. I'd get a hatch or coupe if you're planning on whipping hard on this car. Just my personal opinion, don't get offended.

You do realize there are/ have been some very fast verts out there - though maybe not ideal. Racin' Jason went 7's in his back in the 90's.

Believe me know that about fast verts. It's just my opinion, my reasoning, faster than a 13.99, you need a roll bar to be legal. Something I wouldn't want in a "cruising " vehicle. Going real fast, you want the car to be light, something a vert usually isnt.

I do remember Racing Jason. If you remember, the Stormin Norman car was originally a vert til they made it a coupe.

It's your car and to each there own and I hope you get your where you want it. I have a buddy down here with a vert, was supposed to be his DD. He wants to put a 347 or Windsor in it, because the 302 is making a tick. He already has a 9 sec race car, and a 2005 F150 4WD ( "tow" vehicle and put away during the winter) So he wants the vert to be fast.....he's going to end up with 2 race cars :spend:
