surge protector

I bought a Monster HDP 1800 6 years ago and it's been a great Surge Protector. The warranty protection for connected devices expired a year ago and lately it's been acting up (I have to turn the power switching on it off and on every day to get power to begin working to all my devices). I have a Samsung 9000 series TV, Xbox one, Decent Marantz receiver and a couple other small accessories attached to this. So i want to get something good, strong, with a good warranty for the connected devices. The original HDP 1800 purchase was an impulse buy based on seeing it in the store so no real research was done with it. I'd like to do some more research this time around though. Anyone have any recommendations for something like this? I can go back to Monster and get the 1200 Platinum which is $200. I don't mind paying a decent amount for something so I'm not concerned with cost but the cost has to have merit. Let me know what you guys recommend.

I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure it's failed. The last 2 mornings when I got up, I had to turn off the power switching and turn it back on. At some point during the night, all power shuts off to my attached units except for one. During the day though I had not a single problem. Part of this is to see if there's maybe a problem in current. I know absolutely nothing about low voltage stuff. Actually, I know absolutely nothing about any power related stuff other than to call an electrician.

Get a Tripp Lite or Furman, everything else is junk. They're not super pricey and they work damn well.

I have an APC H15 and am happy with it. It's a few years old. I'd check their website to see if its still a current model, or they've released something newer. A lot of this comes down to how much protection you want and are willing to spend. The H15 was like $250... I think I got it on a good BF sale for significantly cheaper.

the H15 is discontinued. Looks like it came out around 2005 so that makes sense. Looking at their other stuff, they aren't messing around with price.

APC also doesn't seem to carry any connected device warranty. So if it doesn't work, I just get a new device, but everything connected to it is out of luck (at least from what I can tell).

I think they run ~$300-ish at Amazon. I have some plain old Furman surge supressors that are over a decade old still in service, haven't lost anything yet. They're good stuff. APC is good too, forgot all about them until Killjoy mentioned it.

I picked up a Panamax 5400 today. Trying to properly set this up now that I know more about how these things are supposed to be used etc... My question is in relation to the Coax part of the setup. I have 3 sets of banks of dual coax on the back of the Panamax. They are labeled 1 - 3. no other indicators on them. So my question is this. how do I properly utilize this? I am using Direct TV with a SWM box between the wall and the DVR. Looking at the diagram on here I wonder if I should run it from the wall into group one, out of the bottom of group 1 into the DVR. Would that be the right way to do this?

Figured that out. What I said was right. So next question, which version of Sound Mode should I use on my marantz receiver? Just set it to Auto? PLII C, M, G, DTS Neo 6 C, M? Reading up on them now, but someone may understand this and have input sooner than my research finishes.
