Yea...the pictures I posted of the water powered one is for backup only, so your basment does not flood from a power outage.
Julie, Your sump pump is not the problem, sounds like a few drain tiles installed from the house to the storm drains are in order. They will most likely have to trench around your home and install drain tiles, cover them with pea gravel and run them on a angle to your ditch out front, or out back, depending on property grade and storm drain locations. You can tie in all of your gutters at the same time.
A member on my fire hall is doing that same job the last few weeks....his yard is a mess.
