I dont want this for anything stupid, all i want to do is get on my local car message board. it says index./php or whatever it is, is forbidden.

any help = +1

you can always connect through a proxy but they probably already thought about that and you'd get in even more trouble trying to bypass their firewall. You could get a phone with a browser on it or something.

I suggest a proxy like proxify.com They have a free version but it depends on the usage at the time if it's available. Otherwise, you can pay ~$40 for 6 months and it's not limited by usage then. try searching for different proxy services.
They have other URLs if that is blocked because it's an ongoing effort to keep making them as the network people keep finding them and blocking it.
proxify uses alternate sites like wintergreen.org to circumnavigate that.

With proxify I believe you have to use https instead of http in the address

With the way the econonmy is, I'd not be doing anything to piss off IT or do anything that would jeapordize my job.

Best option is an anonymous proxy (search that on Google).
Honestly I agree with the above - don't risk it...

I just gave suggestions on how to do it.
My opinion on the otherhand isn't to use it. It's one thing to try getting to a site and it's blocked. It's a really bad thing to purposely get around a firewall and risk getting caught and possibly losing your job.

Just remember it takes an admin about 10 minutes to pull your entire surfing history and give it to your manager. If they do this and it shows you going proxy, you'll be fired without question. I love me some Motown, but not at the risk of losing my job.

I use Hamachi and remote desktop connection to connect to my home network remotely but like everyone else said it's not worth it if you get caught.

Im not mr computer geek, but in school they had a bunch of stuff blocked, like myspace.

All i did was search what i was looking for (say myspace) throught like yahoojapan or someshit. I cant remember how it worked but it did, it was like if i went through yahoo or google, it would let me thorugh and not show up in the history....

disregard this entire post because it makes little to no sense.

Ask your IT guy. We are not nazi pricks. Sometimes we get to aggressive when setting the filters. It costs you nothing and keeps you on the up and up.

They had something like that at my work with these computers we used to have. They was no URL bar and some sites where blocked. You could keep clicking on links until you got to like mozilla.com and then go to google.com and search for whatever you wanted to go to.
