Street Racing

OK so if you are over 400hp you should not race. Anything under 400hp and street racing is OK :icon_wink

My point was that not everyone who modifies cars use them to street race......amazingly enough some people do only race at the drag strip or (for people who's cars are slow enough to turn) road courses.

Can any of the GM guys confirm this for me? I heard that Scott Settlemire really had nothing to do with the Camaro, and that he was more of a car show spokesman, with really little to no actual involvement with any production aspect of it.

Scott was the Asst. Brand Manager on the CF4 (4th gen) Camaro program and is now working the Chevrolet and Hummer Show/exhibit program. He is a Camaro spokesperson per say for GM. He takes the Camaro Concept cars from show to show and talks about the new Camaro platform with people.

He is not on the Camaro development/engineering team however.

:werd: He's in marketing - not engineering. :)

Wearing the seat belts, Yup I agree.
Too many gray areas for the rest of the stuff.

These are gray areas?

  • No more street racing.
  • Put the cell phone down when behind the wheel.
  • Practice safe driving habits.
  • If you’re going to drink, don’t drive. No one should lose his or her life needlessly.

For most people, I can see the mobile phone thing being a gray area, but the others are pretty clear :D

I was relating to the "no burnouts in the streets or parkinglots, and no street racing".

People need to grow up and start using their heads.

It's all because certain people take things to the extreme. Kids racing 100+ mph on a 35mph raod with lots of twists and turns spells out the whole reason for that email. C'mon joe. When I was a platoon Sergeant, I would have to give a liberty brief every friday before we let the troops leave for the weekend. Yes I would tell the Marines, "if your not 21, your not drinking" plain and simple. It goes out to all underage Marines. But, there were a few youngsters that we're good to go, that I would throw a few beers back with becasue I knew they were not gonna do drag racing on a cliff, or start fights with someone. Shit like that is why you see emails like you posted.

If I'm driving down I75 and a Stang pulls up and starts something, I'll look at the situation, looking for cars infront, looking for cops, road condition, and If the price is right, I'll play with him. Damn man, its not like Im going to 175mph thru traffic and shit.

If I'm showing my car to my buddy, and I take him down to an empty parking lot, I'm may do a burnout or 2. WOW! call the cops and lock me up! lol

I'm not gonna drive into Costco parking lot, pull up to the crosswalk and light em' up, and hit an old lady walking into the store.

Joe, its called common SENSE. Some of us have it and some of us don't.
I'm gonna go ahead and guess, you know, take a little gander and say that the guys in the SS on the Twisty road going 100+ mph did not have, or were not using COMMON SENSE.

I personally like the people who use Woodward at 9:00 in the evening as the bonneville salt flats.

I agree with you 100%.

To me (and maybe most?) the term 'Street Racing' is usually related to things negative and people not using common sense :D

Yup, all about the punks who take it to the next level/extreme, fuck up, and then make us all look like morons.

I completely agree with you.

My concern is that some of you may get a little *too excited* and perhaps decide to do a little street racing.

Please -- I beg you -- read the following -- and PROMISE ME -- that you will not street race -- and that you will wear your safety belts at ALL TIMES -- and that goes for all of your passengers as well.

Please share this with your friends.........put it in your newsletters.............

To some of you, I may sound like a broken record.

Second: If you want to race, take it to the track guys and gals. Or to the dyno. (the dyno doesn’t involve driver error…….)

How ‘bout we make a commitment to each other RIGHT NOW…….that we pledge never to street race – EVER………… (And I don’t care HOW many other motorists are egging you on…….)

How ‘bout we make a commitment to each other RIGHT NOW that we will ALWAYS wear a safety belt…and that goes for everyone in the car or truck with us…………………..

How ‘bout we make a commitment to each other RIGHT NOW that we will tell our loved ones how much they mean to us…….and that we DEMAND that they wear a safety belt………. Every time………no excuses.
.

WOW... All this post needs is a good emo song playing in the background to make it complete:icon_wink

Must be something with F-body guys:seizure:
