Stock 2001 Cobra tuning questions

Can anyone tell me if it makes sense to get a custom tune for a stock 2001 cobra.

I am budget building it with what I can afford when I can afford it. I have an Off-road BBK X with Flowmasters and nothing but an open K&N Filter.
Stock gears for now.

Gears and susp is next on the list.

I have an SCT SF3 and didn't know if getting custom tunes even made sense at this point.

I felt a good difference on the butt dyno when I loaded my 93 octane mail order tune on my 02 gt. I say do it; a tune is only like $60 by itself. You already have the xcal.
