Steve Lisk Hemi Challenger

alrighty, I did some background searching on this car.. I work with Tom Lisk.. So I asked him if he had a brother named Steve. Sure enough, they are related and he talked about his Trans Am with a Chevy drivetrain LS7 and said it was a screamer as well. Anyways, he told me that his brother ran a 9.60 as his fastest time at the strip. The Challenger is *gasp* still in Michigan and owned by a transmission shop owner right now. He did not mention the name. Tom said the owner has done the trans' on most of his performance cars he's owned. I'm not sure how recent this is tracked too, but at least the time of the trans being done in his vette.

Any questions that you guys have for him.. I can ask.. he may not know the full details because it's been a few years, but I can have him ask his brother:poke:

I guess my memory isn't too bad after all :)

your memory is not bad.. :icon_lol:

I will try and post up that article from Car and Driver on street racing in Detroit by Brock Yates on my flickr and share that if I can pry it from the owners hands. funny and interesting stuff from back in 1976.

I'm only 22 but this stuff gets my blood pumping.. hearing old glory stories about racing and crazy street beasts.

I'm 24 and feel the same way about the stories from the 60s/70's street racing. I would have loved to have grown up back then

Well I just got back from RMC's house after moving several hundred ring and pinions and carriers that where underneath the car. The photo shoot wont be for a couple of weeks though. Steve Lisk even showed up to talk with the editor of Hot Rod magazine about the history of the car. Here are some quick pics, sorry space was limited and couldn't get a good angle.

Thank you for bringing this piece of Motown muscle to light again!. Sorry guys not the club per say but what was the crazy horse power era of the 70's on Woodward ave and the under construction/ finished sections of 696 that were the proving ground for so many of us from that era. God dam I wish I still had my 427/430 hp 69 Biscayne that was so much fun during the 1976-78 glory days of Motown muscle and woodward!.

but i can not skip my early era of 1968 ~ 1975 riding around telegraph and Woodward with my Uncle Ray in his Royal Bobcat GTO, then my Scout Leader, Dave Brown.
1972 and 73 were the years of riding in Dave's 1966 Cornet RT 426 car in white. Then he showed up one summer day in 1974 to pick me up for boy scout's and here's this Red Trans Aw SD 455 4 speed car on gold honny comb wheels. WOW was that one nasty machine and to this day I can not tell you which car was the baddest because you could not even pull yourself off the back off your seat as the power was insane.
Don Hartman's 66 ford galaxie 428 car was another that we spent many hours prowling in. Man I was one lucky lad to have these rides taint me for life. long live Motown Muscle!!!!

This is why one should not call bullshit before knowing that it is bullshit:lol:
thanks for sharing the pics with us all.

It's cool to see that car still around. As I said, I saw it run some low tens at Milan in the mid 70s when it had the title of "fastest street car in America".
