stereo problem

im hooking up and system in my friends car its a 95 lincoln towncar. i told him to use the stock radio with a high low convert it will be easier.so i hook everything up and the amp lights work but the power light isnt on and no sound.now i hook the + and - from the converter to the rear speakers normal.a + and - to one speaker and + and - to the other speaker no sound.now i was reading and some people had to tie the + and - from the convert together and put the positives to one speaker and the negatives to the other speaker.any help would be great.

the converter or your rca's might be bad...

are you sure you have 12v going to the REM wire on the amp. if not it wont power up the amp. otherwise sounds like a bad converter then.

try feeding the amp with some external rca's. Like an ipod with an rca convertor on it. Just verify that the amp is indeed working. also make sure you are getting 12v switched to turn on the amp. Its either bad components or the wiring you just need to figured out which.
