There's play in the steering wheel on a 2000 Grand Cherokee. This is a WJ right? Is this a normal thing? The truck has about 125k on it. I know on my car the steering shaft was the culprit of the steering wheel having slack. Is this the same or is it the pitman arm/gear box?

prob play in the tierods. WJ front suspensions are garbage from the factory and only get worse. just be glad its not lifted or deathwobbling

How much play are we talking about. an inch or so left to right isnt a big deal at all and i actually prefer it on the old wobbly jeeps as it keeps ya from steering all over the place when ya hit potholes

its quite a bit i guess, going thru an S turn it kind of feels like your out of control for a bit..

it's probably close to +/- 1" off of center.

on my dads 96 the steering dampner (looks like a shock) would go bad and cause it to feel loose, especially over bumps!

controls arm or track bar set in on the groung have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth and watch it
