State of Michigan Unclaimed Property Website

Having just found myself on here, I would suggest everyone look themselves up and see. If a Michigan business has an unclaimed cash balance account (or physical property), they have to turn it in to the state who puts it on this website. Over half of the people I have told about this are either on here or have a relative on here.To claim, you submit it on the website, the state sends you a claim form with some information they require, you get the info, sign the form and get it notarized, and theoretically you can get a check. I will let you know how long it takes as a submitted a claim online today. The only pain in the ass is getting your signature notarized - I would suggest a visit to your bank.

Happy hunting!

Of course I didn't find anything for myself.
*I did find "$100-$250" for my youngest son.

Its been a few years since I checked that website.
Always good to check it every now & then!

*Update* - I've now found money for 3 people!

Did they send a statement with your check explaining the money?
My son is getting his check and still doesn't know what its for!

Didn't they list it on the claim form? It should say who it was from and the type of account. I had a "Savings Account" from a credit union that closed a decade ago and "Other Amounts due under policy" from Blue Cross.

Yes, it was all detailed on the site when I did the search. Everything made sense. When I searched my name it showed a list of funds from various things all itemized and dated if I recall correctly. Mine was a bunch of stock dividend checks I never cashed, nursing home over payments and a few other small items.
