i could use it, but if i activate it it screws up my sprint/nextel account. the tell me at the store I loose my credits towards new phones, which I'm eligible for new ones now.

nah i dont think thats right, i have a close friend that works at a sprint corprate store, and i swap phones relativeley often, that credits toward NEW phones only apply when you buy a new phone through sprint and re-sign your contract..
lol, i learned all kinds of stuff in my past 4 years of sprint/nextel and 10+ phones lol.

several stores have told us the same thing. my daughters is broken right now. every store has told us if we activate another phone, she will loose her credits towards a new phone for two years, and were past our two year contract now, so were eligible for new phones, we just waiting for some new models due to be released in sept/oct.
I used sprint almost since they had service here, guessing 15 yrs, and my wife follows closely new deals and offers they make. personally, we love the sprint/nextel combination, but as you know their phasing it out. (works great if one has poor reception, we just switch over to reconnect)
and i got you beat on the 10+ phone thing, i even had bag phones when they came out.lol dating myself here.
one of the first smaller phones they came out with(it was not small at all) i paid something like a grand for it. oh my the money i have spent on phones.

holy shit dude..i would never spend more than like $200 on a phone....but a G?.....wow...yeah sprints cool. I had verizon at one point too ( had two cell phones) and the verizon was just ok....i love nextel and the 2 way, all my buddys had it and i never talked on the regular phone, i actually hate talking on the reg phone, lol, but am forced to now, with all my buddys going to verizon/sprint i had no one left to 2 way...hahha..
if i were you and just a needed a phone to get by with id just do it, if you have been the customer there for that long they wont give you a hard time.
i just last week did this when my sprint rumor broke and they didnt have any in stock to replace mine with so i have to wait too weeks, i put a loaner phone (some older model bs flip thing) on my account and it did effect anything....
a grand for a phone......crazy.
