MCC riding class is a great place to start! I'd stay away from a dealer just for the fact of over paying. Go here http://www.sportbikeworld.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=256

First bike I rode was a ninja 600. I liked it.

I came close to buying a buell blast, but backed out. Kind of wish I did for fuel mileage reasons.
 
Yeah, I've looked at the Blast but they remind me of the bikes you'd see in the late 80's. I like the looks of the CBR's the most, plus I think it will probably be a bike I'll keep for a long time if I can find a good one at a decent price.

I'm not looking at getting a bike to go race, or drive like an ass....just something to get the miles off of my lease and drive back and forth to school and work this summer.

Make sure you buy a good life insurance policy too.
