We'll call them "round-1" because you know we'll chase this pup all the way to production.

DC TALKS WITH CHRIS DOANE, PHOTOGRAPHER:

How'd you manage to snap the photos and what the hell is that thing?

"These pics almost didn't happen. I'd been seeing one or two regular C6 Vettes with MFT plates around lately, so when I saw a black one coming towards me on the other side of the highway, I didn't think much of it. Then I saw the side vents in front of the rear tires and thought "oh just a Z06." Then I saw the huge bulge in the hood and almost crashed my car. Well...not really but I was overcome with the sudden urge to jump the median.

After legally turning around, I started after the test car only to find out the obvious. This thing is fast. Im not sure if/when the engineer driving the car realized I was following him, or if he was just enjoying all the power at his disposal (who could blame him), but it took 15-20 mins to get ahead of him and get into a position to photograph the car.

Now this may sound a little odd, but the thing I remember most when the car was passing my shooting position was a big sucking sound. As in, the motor's supercharger sucking in huge amounts of air. The engineer did put the hammer down when he saw me, but I wouldn't say he was at WOT. Needless to say the exhaust note is unholy."

They need to do something else with that hood...

Did you notice the subject, IT IS A TEST MULE for the drivetrain. New exterior is probably not being used so it doesn't draw as much attention.

Yes I noticed the subject... But with GM's track record for car/truck exterior... You never know...

The car looks SLAMMED in picture #2...but at the same time doesn't look to be cornering too hard??

Really? Because I thought that GM would DEFINITELY use the roughly lines of a stick-on cowl hood scoop and also leave the exposed rivets there for all to see on a $100,000.00 sports car.

wow, i didnt know we had a lot of masters of the obvious running around here...

i think me and reiko we're stating the hood is ugly as F...and GM better not be stupid and try to mold something like that for the production hood..

It is obviously not even close to a production hood, i thought that would be a given.

Man do I hope the designers at GM see Reiko's post and realize they need to change the design of the hood for extra clearence. If they don't see Fred's posts they will likely put that car into production with that hood on it. Can someone get this info to some of the higher-ups at GM? Make sure Fred get's credit for the design of the new hood, after all, it was his idea.

thats damn right, you guys better pay us off when that thing comes offf with a different hood on it...

we just made that thing even more sex on wheels..

hah..

Could this be the "SS" model ive heard talks about? Funny story:
I stopped at a dealership over on 18 and vandyke cuz i saw a new Z06 on the lot. Pulled up in my TA..before i was even outta my car..a sales rep was out. She was asking me if i needed help blah blah. Politely told her no, i was just looking over the car. She asked me if i wanted to be put on a "List" to own one. Politely said no. She then asked me if i wanted to be put on the order list for the Z06 SS "Blue Devil" thats being released next year. I stood confused for a minute..and said um..no. Then she starts ranting on how its 600hp ect ect.

Given GM's track record as stated before they have had made some huge mistakes in design... AS STATED BEFORE... It's still ugly as fuck... Boy your on a roll today fuck head... Maybe you should eat another peice of chicken to keep you going... Better yet have another can of tuna... Or better yet why don't you go get those sleeves done.... :bsjerk:

Yep, ss/blue devil/stingray/z07 this is the 650hp $100,000 corvette. Production version is rumored to be at the NAIAS for next year.

Production numbers are going to be very VERY limited from what the one dealer that actually has a clue on digital corvettes said.
