I was out there a couple weeks ago, and the Tankrod is now sporting Twin Turbos. I think he described it something like "you'll never see something that weighs five tons move so fuckin fast in your life".
He's really into that weird shit. He was gushing over this Ariel Atom about how awesome it is, and I'm thinking, hmm...three feet away there's a McLaren F1, probably the most sought after modern supercar, and we're literally walking right past it without noticing. Has a ton of those Stanley Steamer things. Very few modern cars (in the context of owning over 160 vehicles). Carrera GT, Merc SLR, Ford GT, Gen II Viper, C6Z, Firehawk. No Ferraris. He drives everything too. Loves blowing away L.A Porsche snots in the 1,000hp 66' Olds.
We went for a ride in this thing, which was scary considering it takes about a mile to stop, and it was 3 o'clock L.A traffic on the highway:
I have to assume it's worth 7 figures, considering it sold for 10k new...in 1916.
His garage is the ultimate. Bad ass huge kitchen. Full time staff that can basically fabricate anything. Wild collection of cars. More maintenance materials than an Autozone. It's like the ultimate man's playtoy.
