Here is my little Sleeper 1977 Celica Liftback

I know a lot of you guys are domestic to the core, but I figured a few of you my appreciate this thing or think it's cool.

I have done every bit of the work on this car myself, from stock turd, to where it is now.
Never understood how some people can write a check to someone to build the car of their dreams.... so I decided that no shop will ever touch it or any part of it (made an exception for engine machining of course).

Much easier to take pride in what you have when you have put your own blood, sweat, and tears into a build. And it's just that much more satisfying to see peoples reactions when they get spanked by an old piece of shit Toyota.

It's kind of a frankenstien car
77 Celica Chassis
92 Turbo Surpa I6
68 Dodge Dart 8.75" rear
Self built and tuned engine management
Supra 5 speed
and a bunch of other random parts.

11.51 and I was revving out in 4th before the stripe last year at Milan, trapping 123, with a 1.9 60' launching on Vacuum. Had a 3.91 rear so over the winter I changed to a 3.55 and it seemed to help out a lot. An antilag launch will hopefully get me into the 10's this year with the new gear, we'll see.

You would have no idea

I'm taking it down to Milan TODAY for test in tune if any of you guys want to see it in action!
I have the feeling my Axle shaft is going to break if I launch on boost, but luckily my buddy is bringing a trailer! We'll see what happens!

Very sweet build! I think that 8 3/4 will be fine. (I might be a little biased) let us know what it runs.

I ended up a lil bit slower than last year, apparently I was down to 15psi of boost instead of 17like last year? I had no idea til I left the track.

Anyways, I ended up with a 11.88 @ 118 with some traction problems. Kept spinning into 3rd for some reason haha, maybe I am jsut shifting too damn hard! Hooks up alright if I shift a little more gently.

One thing I realized from last night

I LOVE beating expensive cars
-C6 Z06 "Carbon Edition" (badass ride btw)
-Lingenfelter CTS-V
-c5 z06 with some engine mods
-and 3 other random cars, mustangs and the like.

The reaction of people with 70-80k dollar cars that get beat by a POS old Toyota is just PRICELESS.

I will be going back to the track again in a couple weeks with the boost turned back to 17 and/or tossing the holset on there!

And thanks for the comments guys!

I have a few videos that my buddy took with his Go-pro. Waiting for him to upload and I'll post it up here.
I have another vid that my Dad took with his poopy camera of me vs the CTS-V, but it's blurry. I may try to upload it anyways

Videos!!

Nice burnout... vs some mustang, spun a lot, but I win

Vs Lingenfelter CTS-V 600+hp.... I win

spin.... Still win

Vs modded z06.... I win

and one from before

I may try that!

And yes, I plan on painting it white like the engine bay is painted. But the sleeper effect awesomeness is pretty fun the way it is.

It will be painted eventually, but my mechanical skills are much much better than my bodywork skills!

I just have my prioirties all wrong (Right)

1. go fast
2. drivetrain holding power
3. safety
4. Look good

Sounds about right to me...

I think multi colored cars give it away and make it less of a sleeper, every "sleeper" has terrible paint. Nice paint would make me think it's a stock low mileage car.
