I finally got my baby back on the ground, and fired up and running again. I figured I'd share a big update for myself with you guys. My Camaro is back on the ground, and has seen day light for the first time since a fairly big transmission fire 4 years ago, that totaled everything from the front seats foward. I'll share a couple before pictures, and then the few pictures from today with it on the ground for the first time since. It's down to little stuff now. Have to mount the shifter, run the new brake lines, switch yokes on the driveshaft, ect. Next year it's going to get narrowed frame rails, mini tubbed, and a afco coil over suspension that we purchased earlier this past year, along with the addition of a 10pt cage.
Before (2006-ish)
After the fire:
It's been a long road of rebuilding the car with spare cash here and there, but it's finally close to being back together. The car now has a braked Coan TH400 with a Continental 8" 5000 converter, from the previous MRVB th350 and TCI 3500 converter. The engine has not changed, still a 13.5:1 439ci BBC. The fuel system has been upgraded from a stock tank and hard lines with a conventional cheap electric fuel pump to a 12 gallon cell with a Aeromotive A1000, -10 feed, -18 return setup. Rear end is a 8.5 10 bolt with 31 spline axles, spool, and 4.56 gear. As mentioned next year that will be done away with, and the frame rail/ladder bar/9inch setup we purchased will be done. Wheels have been upgraded from 15x3.5 Weld Draglites with cheap VW front tires, and 15x10 draglites with 28x11.5-15 M&H radials to 15x4 Weldstar RTs with 26" Sportsman Fronts and 15x8 Weld Racing RTS wheels with 30x12.5-15 ET Streets. Everything from the front seats foward had to be redone. New front fenders, new hood, new windshield, carpet, dash, and hours of cleaning and repainting.
