Some advice on trading in a used (modified) vehicle please.....

Thanks Rick, will do. Talking to some buddies tonight and they got me considering a '13 gas silverado. Thinking I can get into one for around the mid 20's---I guess they are giving mad incentives right now and those are pretty good on gas. Decisions, decisions.....lol

I wrestled with it big time when I bought mine. I could've bought a much newer gasser with the same money but in the end my want for a diesel won out.

I think I would be happier with the diesel, but thoughts of pitted injectorseatss and other such nonsense haunts me...

after dealing with the injector issues myself with my old LB7.. it really wasnt as bad as i thought.. a lot of them out there have had them done already and the new re designed ones put back in which work much better... if you want to still keep it budget friendly, look at an 04.5-6.. deals can be found on those right now

take it off the economy set up and go to the next step up.. should be a performance setting.. you should get even better mileage with that... on my old lb7 i would get better mpg's the more i turned it up

I've heard/read this, just haven't messed with it much. I figure the more I mess with the the more I'll want to mod it.

I loaded the Level 2 tune on Friday. Since then I traveled 172.6 miles, used 7.9 gallons of fuel, averaging 21.9 mpg with an average speed of 29 mph.(pretty good mix of city/highway) It seems to really like that tune! I'll have to hand calculate the next tank to see how close to real life it is.

You should be close. I bought my new '12 (extended cab Z71 4x4) back in Sept. for less than what standard cab v6 4x4s were going for. The rebates were far too good to pass up.

I know bosch redesigned the injector, but from what people are saying on the forums it appears that many (most) people still have issues regardless of the upgraded design. Even after adding additional filters, lift pumps, etc, there still seems to be an issue! Then, other people go 100,000 miles plus after replacing the 1st set with no additional problems. WTF? Now the 05/06's are more appealing in this regard, but the fuel economy drops off according to some. Others claim it doesn't. Again, WTF? Did you change your own injectors? Looks to cost a person about 2K? Or 4K if someone else does it?

Now, that's more like it!!! What tuner do you have again? Exhaust or other mods?

There are some awesome deals (2013's) right now, but the 2014's are very tempting (feature wise---cost, not so much)

The tuner is a PPE tuner, some regard it as the best "canned" tuner for a Durmax. I honestly have no idea but the truck behaves fine with it. Only mod is a 4" AFE cat back the previous owner installed. I'd like to do a down pipe back but this is just a driver so it will stay the way it is for the foreseeable future.

Cool. I know you said you went back and forth. Now that you have this are you happy with your decision?

Only reason for the back and forth was I could've bought a newer truck with a gas engine for the same money. Mileage never really figured into it for me since it's not my daily driver. The beater is getting tired though so it may become more of a daily vehicle soon enough.
