Its a bullshit argument on their part. Remind your customers THEY ARE SHOPPING THEMSELVES OUT OF A JOB. They should just go ahead and quit there job and live on the street now with that mentality. That would be the problem. The low price con's people into shopping themsleves out of a job. Its a big giant disease the whole nation has it and the only way to stop it is to stand in its way. I agree autozone is a fucking blight on this country and they devalue what I do and they devalue what you do. If they went belly up I couldn't be happier. I would love to run an AD Campaign about the impact of Autozone WalMart etc on the economy and why they are destroying the robust manufacturing industry here.The last time the Autozone sales rep came in here I told him if I ever saw saw him on my property again I would shoot his ass.I don't think I would have a problem with autozone if there was some truth in advertising. I have seen their alternators catch fire, fuel pump die in a week and the list goes on. But the thing that truly pisses me off the most is the scan tool in the store. WTF is that about a code is a sypmton of a problem and may not be the actual problem. I have to spend around $1k a yr to keep my handheld scanner/scope updated plus the $8k entrance price and these guys have just taken the $70 an hr I use to pay for that tool out of my pocket.

my personal favorite is the O2 code. :lol: i don't know how many times ive been in line at autozone or murrays and heard "you have an o2 code, that means you need to buy a new sensor(s) for your vehicle" :slap: never mind what caused it :lol:

do you have any idea what the housing market is like in las vegas or phoenix area? my aunt just sold her house for triple what she paid for it 10 years ago in tempe!!!!! my cousin sold her house too within a year of buying it and made over half on it. its crazy insane to buy out there right now, but you cant beat the weather from september to may is usually pretty perfect.

Chevy 350 L98, mild cam .499 &.510 lift & intake. Had some porting done to the heads maybe a 350 HP engine. Lasted about 5k miles, bent all the push rods and about 8 of the valves and mard the top of a few pistons.

The only reason i used a NAPA chain is because Summit sent me the wrong one and I had to get the car back together.

I want to say that was about 1998 or 9

Don't forget the houses on our streets have been selling like crap... But it sounds like you got in a while ago so it's probably a better situation for you. Did the house a few down from yours finally sell or did they just pull it off the market?

The house right next to mine sold this past summer. It sold for $201k even though it was on the market for a year. The house behind mine at Flanders and Cadillac has been on the market for almost 2 years and they're still asking $235k+. I've been there for 5 years but I don't think it would be easy to sell right now.

Don't get me wrong I still have a good clinental of customers that do buy quality parts... But other side I won't turn my business down... When your own money has been invested into your inventory and you have to float your own money on inventory... You want that money back in your pocket before it's a lost cause...

This was a flat link chain ?? were you laying on the limiter alot ??? i have never seen a melling/fedral mogul chain fail ( thats who NAPA buys them from) bizarre ?

Did you file a warranty damage claim ?? usually NAPA is really good about backing up there products which is why i shop there so much. I had a belt break due to a fialed tensoiner bearing about 3yrs ago they payed all the damages to the engine labor and parts.

To be honest though i have wored at shops with come back rates as high as 2 outa 3 for parts failures and i am lucky i we have a problem with 1-500 so i can run with those odds. I understand we are going to get lemon parts it happens no matter how good you are it just happens less when you make an effort to not have it happen.

Well, our neighbors sold for $2k more than they paid 2 years ago since they already had a contract and a job lined up in Texas (they were teachers, wierd thing is that another pair of teachers moved in). The one around the corner was being held by the company (he moved to TN or KY or something) and that just sold for what he paid when he bought it. One way down the street went fast, but they got a whole bunch of conessions and such. The 'mold' house that was repossed is still on the market and hasn't sold. The one you're talkinga bout was supposed to be sold according to my real estate neighbor, and they already moved, but it fell through. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for way to cheap soon.:dontknow: Sorry for the thread hijack folks... back to the discussion about moving out. I have no plans at this point, I agree with everyone that as long as family is here I'll probably be here.

The wife and I came real close to leaving Michigan last year. I had started looking for jobs in the south and everything. Then the company we both work for decided to give us both raises that not many others got (plus our COLA raise) so we decided to stick around a few more years and be whores for the money. Now that we bought this house in Feb we are stuck here for at least a few more years unless one or both of us gets laid off. Still if the economy even modestly turns around in the next few years, we should make a killing on this house when we sell it.

yes i have looked at em, but i'd rather go soemplace were there plenty of jobs and no snow then stay in michigan with no jobs and shitty weather

I will most likely wait it out. I transfered to EMU today (starting winter semester), so I am gonna finish my degree at Eastern. I would absolutely love to stay in MI, but we will see once I start looking for my career. If I left, I would want to go to Colorado, or Tennessee. I love Michigan. Hell, I even love the snow. Tons of great places to visit in this state. Hopefully the economy looks up from here on out.

The thing with AZ is - property taxes are MUCH lower than Michigan. We compared prices of my parents house with those down there... Yes, you do get less square footage but the property taxes are MUCH less. My parents pay $4,000/yr in property taxes based on the value of their home.... Down there the taxes on this house would be around $1,400/yr. No joke.
