so whats needed to run fuel injection?

alright I have been planning on running E85 carbs on my car, but i've been tossing around the idea of maybe doing fuel injection. Its what I wanted to do, but i always dismissed it because of cost...i'd like to figure out whats needed to run it so i can maybe put one together. Everything is complicated since I need to do it on the blower, and there arent many efi parts around since I want to run a bug catcher style scoop. So what sensors/parts are needed to put a kit together? Let me know if I'm missing something here

computer/wiring
throttle body
tps sensor
injectors & plumbing
fuel pump & reg
coolant temp sensor
air intake sensor (do you have one in the intake and one at the air filter?)
02 sensors

anything else needed?

Your gonna save yourself a ton of hassle over the carb situation. The only real difference in the fuel system between the carb and the EFI setup is going to be pressure and pump capability aside from the obvious stuff.

If you building anything close to what I think you are look into a magnafuel 750 EFI pump. should flow enough for more power down the road and very reliable in my epxerience.

As for everything else. do you want cross fuel capability ? IE more then one fuel ? If so that narrows down your EFI system choices alot.

when you say cross fuel is that using a flexfuel style to run different percentages of ethanol?

As far as the intake air temp sensors go, Most systems use only one. I would suggest putting in the intake After the blower. This is going to be the most important reading for the PCM due to the fact that the air-charge will be undoubtedly heated when compressed by the blower.

I assume this is a BBC engine.

Some issues your going to have.
-It's got a blower. So the current intake would best be modified for multiport injection. IE: Injector Bungs welded in, Fuel rail mounts welded on, and custom rails that fit. Unless they make an injected lower intake manifold for your setup.

-Does the blower have provisions for 1 or 2 4bbl carbs?
--IF it has for two, then this is gonna get messy with the proper set of throttle bodies unless you make a manifold above the blower. IF it is for 1 4bbl carb then you could buy something like this and use what you need.

You could use the rails, Throttle body, fuel lines, regulator, ect. Modify your current lower intake, get the bigger pump Sean suggested, bigger injectors and be just about there.

Hopefully I helped even a little bit. I totally agree with Sean. For the bit more cost upfront Fuel Injection is going to be WAAAY less problems on a streetable setup.

Good luck.
