So is Ford Motor Co going to be top dog now?

So how much MORE did GM and Chrysler get? And how much did McDonalds get to counteract the cost of rising wheat and lettuce costs?

GM has received $52.7 billion in funding thus far. Totally comparable.

Your analogy is bad. The U.S doesn't enact legislation to increase the price of lettuce and wheat in pursuit of societal goals. The U.S government decided they wanted cars to get more efficient so they saddled the industry with $120 billion in costs and have decided to award a couple companies a few billion. Whoopee.

What is your definition of top dog? GM has outsold Ford all through bankruptcy.

you might wanna reconsider your thoughts there. go back for the last two months. FORD has outsold everyone for the last two months including toyota.
Ford is undoubtedly going to become the heavy wieght king of the automanufacturers.
ford will surpass GM and toyota with ease now that GM and chrylser have left such a sour taste in so many of thier loyal customers mouths.
there will be millions of people switching over to ford now that were Gm and chrysler woners before. yes i know there will always be the purists that will absolutely refuse to drive anything but GM or Chrysler. the rest however will comeover to the darkside.
Ford will be back on top right where they belong.:buds:

I have to agree with some of this statement.

I'm wondering how many Pontiac fans will quit buying GM products since they are taking away they pride and joy brand. Of all the GM employees that are losing or will lose their jobs how many are going to be bitter and make the switch.
If you don't get the GM discount would you still buy one of their products? One of the guys I work with used to get a Delphi discount till it got sold off, he bought a F-250 to replace his Chevrolet dually and his wife is looking at a Lincoln to replace her Buick.

I am not going to get into all the side debates here.
Ford is looking to be the #1 going forward

There product line is awesome, and they are designing and have concepts of cars people REALLY WANT.
I am also pumped to see how the ecoboost turns out.
Longevity, modabliity, etc

Here is my data: The Wall Street Journal. Where's yours? Summary: Ford has had smaller percentage drops year to year (which may be the source of your misinformation), but they are still a good chunk away from The General in sales. The chart is only for May but it has year to date with numbers and a line chart showing total sales. It will be interesting to see what happens when GM gets out of bankruptcy, since they soundly beat Ford leading up to it.

http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/2_3022-autosales.html

June numbers should be out this week, and Ford is talking them up, so maybe they will move ahead for this month. They will definitely get an advantage when 200,000 Pontiacs a year disappear from GM's market share, no doubt about it. Presuming that they are on a big rise is nothing but a guess, and your logic contradicts what has already happened with market share this year.

GM and their employees need some type of intervention to explain to them that selling more cars does not equal soundly beating. The endless pursuit of the meaningless title of "biggest" sure did wonders in putting them in the tank by eroding margins and brand perception. I invest in companies for their returns, not ones that do alot of volume and then move to the pink sheets.

Of course they are top dog. You can't be top dog while relying on government life support.

The only reason GM was in business in December, January, February, March, April, May, or June is because the U.S taxpayers were funding their ongoing operations. Don't forget that. And it's done nothing to diminish the corporate arrogance that has left GM a ward of the government.

+1 to you

I agree with you about the definition of King. That is what I stated in my first post in this thread too. The general definition is top sales, but if you want to use "least amount of bankruptcies" then knock yourself out if it makes you feel better.

You are just jealous because in two months GM is going to have a better balance sheet than Ford. And your tax money is paying for it. Did I get a chance to thank you yet? Tx.
