So is Ford Motor Co going to be top dog now?

Seeing as Chrysler and GM are involved with bankruptcy filings is Ford going to come out as the new King of US automakers?

What I'm worried about is that now GM and Chrysler will be able to re-write some of there contracts. This should make them more competative and allow them to sell there vehicles at a lower price.

Will this then make it difficult for Ford to compete against companies that have neen able to shed costs?

Short term yes, but I think within 2 years GM will be top dog. As for Chrysler, they need a bit more work and it will take time.

Heard Ford is turning up production on cars and trucks in August. They feel the economy is coming back around now.

Of course they are top dog. You can't be top dog while relying on government life support.

The only reason GM was in business in December, January, February, March, April, May, or June is because the U.S taxpayers were funding their ongoing operations. Don't forget that. And it's done nothing to diminish the corporate arrogance that has left GM a ward of the government.

Ford asked for 5.9 Billion from the Governmen recently....so they cant be top dog.

That was funding that was set aside by Congress in 2007 to counteract the costs of re-tooling to meet new efficiency standards set by the government. Nothing to do with funding their ongoing operations.

Not sure why it is the govenrments responsibility...

X2

I love these all these die hard Ford/GM/Mopar guys thinking one is superior in one way over another. If one gets fucked, they are all fucked.

Yeah. It's not going to be an easy road for any of them. Ford has a shitload of debt(I think even more than Chrysler and GM at this point?) and they need to work to get the same contractual benefits the other two got. Gm and Chrysler both have the stigma of bankruptcy on top of additional debts. And the economy still sucks.
