So I am having yet ANOTHER surgery

Some of you may remember the ongoing saga with the nerve issue in my arm and hand.

I had surgery last year in August. I started having problems with in again over the winter and went through physical therapy for a few months and while it did get better it was never near as good as it was after the surgery. I started getting nerve pain and aching again in May and the last few weeks has been horribly painful. They have run a few test over the last month and it seems it is now worse than it was before surgery :crybaby: The surgeon isn't quite sure what is going on, they believe it may be a scar tissue issue, but they won't know for sure until they get me opened up and see. The condition is pretty rare so no one has too much experience dealing with it it seems. Although my surgeon is familiar with it and has done the surgery before (on other people, not just me)

I will be having another surgery on September 28th. pretty much the same procedure, but they will be opening up the arm farther down and they will be placing a tube around the nerve to attempt to protect it from further compression.


So I will once again be off for a while and as I start to heal probably bored out of my mind. So if anything fun is going on or anyone wants to hang out let me know. Although I more than likely won't be able to drive for a little bit.
 
The surgery part sucks. I hope the docs find the solution for all this. On the other hand, it'll be the begining of October and a good time to hit the beaches here in FL...
 
Thanks! I hope he finds the solution this time around to. If you have never had nerve pain it is horrible. It is a burning pain. So my arm for the most part feels like it is on fire most of the time in addition to aching muscle pain.

I am so anxious to feel better! So I really hope it works!

I get the same burning pain running down the back of my legs due to a herniated disc in my lower back.. that burning feeling is very uncomfortable!
Good luck with your surgery, hopefully the Doc's can get this under control.

t minus 5 days until surgery!

I only have 2 shifts left before I start my leave from work. Seriously have like a million things I am trying to get done around the house so I can be ready to deal with being the 1 armed bandit for a while :roll:

If your bored you can fill in for Def Leppards drummer while they are on tour :dunno:
 
Surgery was the 28th. Surgeon believes it went well and he corrected the problem and put the tube around the nerve to protect it.

Hand/fingers are numb and basically useless right now. Although I am getting some shock nerve pain periodically now. Still in pain but not as much as right after the surgery.
 
best wishes...just had a disc trimmed to get some pressure off my sciatic nerve...recovery is boring as heck!
