SNOW

I haven't measured the depth of snow around my place yet but we definitely got a bit down here in Ohio. The John Deere got stuck a couple times without chains when I tried to push the top of the pile back to make more room. Fluid filled tires did help a ton. Can't decide if I want to build my weight bracket to add another 200 or so pounds to the rear axle. Thinking chains will help more than the weight at this point.

Chains made a huge difference on my John Deere when I used to plow snow with it.

What kind of tires do you have? If you have R4s then just groove them. I hate chains because they destroy everything and I like to go fast.

I don't remember what they are at the moment. But you can see them in this pic from when I was test fitting the plow. The deck is off now for snow plowing.

I have a ~2010 Craftsman (Husqvarna) garden tractor with a 42" snowthrower on it, and a home built cab. Had a ton of trouble with the Turf-Savers that came on it last winter - no surprise, I had no weights and those tires.

Upgraded with some cast iron wheelweights (I think 50 lbs a wheel) and these tires and I haven't even needed the chains yet in the 2 light snows we got this year:

We're easily over 3" already and still snowing. Crazy since I was really considering uncovering the Z1000 and going for a ride this week. But at this rate the salt will have the roads coated.

only a few inches of really powdery snow up by Almont. My parent's place in Shelby had way more at 6:30 last night - probably a solid 3"-4" with more coming down.

Didn't end up with much more after my last post. Snow stopped when I got to work, still saw my tracks in the driveway when I got home in the morning. I'd say 4" total snow fall.
