Well I havent been active on here lately due to the fact that MOS school is so hard (and long) right now, that I've had my head shoved in a book for weeks. Military training... definitely isnt like typical college. Typical College you goto school for a couple of hours, do some homework, study a bit and the day is yours. We are required to soak up this info like a sponge its rediculous at how fast the pace is. To put it in perspective I made 10 college credits in just a month and a half. But the good thing is I get out of here around late August... meaning its time to put in my Permanment Duty Station Wish list!
So what I do is I pick my top 3 places of where I'd "like" to be stationed. Now mind you, even though its on my list, it all really boils down to the needs of the Marine Corps. So here is my list so far:
1) Camp Lejuene Jacksonville, NC
2) Miramar San Diego, CA
3) Camp Pendleton Oceanside, CA
4) Norfolk, VA
5) Quantico, VA
I am really trying to be on the East coast. I LOVE it here being so close to San Diego, Vegas, LA and Palm Springs but being on the East coast means I'm closer to home. I love going home and would rather be back in MI than on the West coast. My parents are going through a divorce right now so I'd like to be home to help support my dad.... long story. I go home every chance I get. I also factor in that if i want to go home it cost me around 150-200 from NC instead of 4-600 from CA. So what is everyones experiences of these places? I'd love to hear from Military personnel that have been to these stations but more interested in the general areas around them. Thanks everyone! I'll be coming home for Memorial day!
