skiing/snowboarding @ Mt brighton

Some may know, but last year, VAIL bought Mt. Brighton and put $10Million into upgrades. The Old Mt. Brighton is a thing of the past. It now has two bars, new restaurant, cafeteria , all new rental and demo equipment, the lodge has been completely redone. The hills have all new air/water lines going to the snow guns, all new snow guns, reshaping of the hill. All of the lifts have either been refurnished or replaced. They now have 2 quad lifts. They moved three of the lifts and removed two lifts. It works much better now.

Also, they hired Snow Park Technologies to do the terrain park. This is the same company that designs the jumps/course/park for the X-Games. Needless to say, VAIL went all out on re-doing Mt. Brighton.

An Epic Pass is good at Mt. Brighton and all the Vail resorts out west. One pass even gets you into some of the european vail resorts.

If you are thinking of going skiing/snowboarding, you should give Mt. Brighton a shot... It's completely new.

I'm still the Ski School Supervisor on saturday and sunday nights. I think I'm also going to work on Sunday days so I can still teach.

I grew up in New England skiing 3-4 nights a week from the time I was 5 through high school. I've been in Michigan 14 years and have yet to ski here. Maybe this year might be the year.

I have never put a pair of skis on in my life. Wouldn't mind trying (and hopefully not injured).

when you get to the top of the hill, point the skis downhill. When you get to the bottom of the hill, turn the ski's either in the same direction or in a "V" shape.
It's really that easy.

Oh.. and they have two magic carpets, no more rope tows on the beginning runs.

I THINK I want some short ski boards.... They look fun considering i'm comfortable on skates/blades.... Do they rent those? I've been to brighton once. Rented snowboards with my cousin... Caught a backside edge and racked my head pretty good... Haha I was like..."I'm good, i'm just gonna lay here for a few..." :)

Charles De Mar: Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn

I would love to oversee and just watch the snowmaker guys do there job last year I built a small snowmaker for home and used a pressure washer and air compressor made me about an inch of snow on a good night in about an hour and a half or so.

I may give it a shot.....went last year for the first time in 15 years....ugh it was horrible. But hopefully with the Vail ownership it is better.

However I am somewhat of a snow snob....so that doesn't help. Plus a snowboard at place with such short runs can get annoying very quickly.

Anyone have any pics of the new park?? I am curious to see if they put in any decent kickers/boosters or even some big rollers you can hit with speed??? Is it at least as good as Alpine's park?

I'd say better by a long shot.

They have the "Jump Line" run done. A series of jumps in a row, you hit one after another. The last jump is almost as high was the chairlift seats. Just a few feet shy. Intimidating as hell@!

Holy shit, I might have to hit Brighton up this year.. never been there. I usually go to PK and Holly, sometimes Alpine.
Is the season pass at Brighton considered an EPIC pass? So buy a season pass for Brighton and you can use it all the Vail resorts?

There are several different type of passes you can get:

just a Mt Brighton pass, EPIC pass (good out west) and another pass that includes the european resorts.
