Simple method for flushing a 4L60e without a trans cooler?

just wondering if there is a way to do it. My last truck had a cooler and i just let the truck idle while i disconnected one of the lines and let it pump itself out while I added fresh fluid.

If not, i'll just drop the pan and top it off i guess.

dont flush.
drop the pan change filter and refill

the cooler method isnt so much flushing as it is just changing all of the fluid. i don't believe in flushing either. Dropping the pan doesnt change all the fluid, thats why im asking.

You can flush the trans, but you still need to drop the pan & clean out any sediments/metal on the magnet, & replace the filter.
I would not suggest disconnecting a cooler line and guessing on how fast to pour in fluid.
That what they make the flush machines for, so you can regulate the amount of fluid exiting and entering the trans.
For simplicity sake, when you drop the pan add a drain plug ( I weld a short 1/2 fine threaded nut inside the pan and use a engine oil drain plug) and replace the fluid every/every other engine oil change.
Constantly diluting the fluid with fresh fluid will greatly extend its life.

When i did my last truck i dropped the pan and changed the filter first, refilled the trans, then disconnected the lines. When cycling new fluid into it, I simply only let the engine run for a few seconds at a time and then re-filled it. It never got anywhere near empty. I kept doing that until the fluid coming out of the trans changed color... it happens instantly. I was quite comfortable doing it, and noticed a big improvement in how the trans operated afterwards.

Looks like i am stuck dropping the pan on this one though.

Whats your thoughts on changing fluid in OLD properly working transmissions? Ive got a 94 Cherokee AW4 with 185k on it that still runs and shifts fine. Ive been told not to mess with it and leave it as is, but the fluid is kinda brown looking now
