I need to get at the front rotor of my 03 Sierra and rememebr last time I was in there I didn't have the right tool to undo the caliper bolts. IT was either a very large allen head or a big Torx. Anyone know what size it is?

This is what comes up...

I have new rotors, but I also have that problem whereing the ABS fires right before Istop. Someone posted before on here that the sensors are guked up and I was going for the trifecta here with pads, rotors, and the sebsor cleanup.

T-55, eh? I'll have to get one. Thanks guys!

That GMT-800 disc brake setup is among the easiest to change and longest lasting setup I have ever had on any pickup :D

Any pointers on what I have to do to cleanup the sensors/reluctor, etc? I heard that there was a recall campaign on this but up here in the sticks the dealers are few and far between and not very reliable in my opinion. I've dropped off cars that ran worse when I got them back. Ergo, I do my own stuff to the extent that I can.

I do not. That is one common issue I have yet to see on my 2000 GMC.
Checkout the forums at www.fullsizechevy.com and do a quick search, there should be something there on cleaning the ABS sensor.

Corrosion builds up under the wheel speed sensor and increases the air gap.Remove the sensor...clean up the hub mounting surface and spray it with a primer and allow to dry.Apply some grease to the underside of the sensor mounting tab and reinstall. This should get you back to the correct air gap.Roadtest the vehicle in a safe controlled area and confirm the fix before heading out on the roadways.

My father is up in West Branch and has a 2000 Silverado. He took his truck in for the service recall on the tail gate straps and they also said they serviced the ABS problem with the front sensors by spraying a rust inhibitor to stop the corrosion. The next week he was back in with a bad wheel bearing that costed him $625.00, I could have gotten the bearing locally for $175ish. I asked him to bring the old wheel bearing down next time he came to visit and when he did I put it in my press to disassemble. It was dry as a bone, all the grease had been wiped out and the bearings looked like poop.
