Shipping wheels & tires

What is the best method of shipping a set of wheels & tires? I have found a few sets but nobody seems to be able to find a way to ship them. There has to be a reasonable way to get this done. Any ideas?

The last time I had a set shipped a computer monitor box was still the size of two wheels and that worked out well. Im sure you could still get a box to fit them.

I wrapped 4 wheels with card board on the face then bubble wrapped and plastic wrapped them. I took all 4 wheels to UPS on wixom road. Shipped all 4 from wixom to Texas with 2k in insuarance for 218.00

Depending on how wide they are.

I lay bubble wrap on the face, then 2 pieces of cardboard that go all the way way to edge of tire. Then shrink wrap around the tread, then flip the tire while shrink wrapping. Then clear box tape around tread to hold it all in place.

For front runners I put them together.

Depending on the wheel..... Hre for example, got a little extra love.

Do not go to ups store.

Post bet stores will give you a "ebay" discount. But the best price will always be at a ups or FedEx hub

Thanks for the help guys. I wouldn't be so concerned if I were the one doing the packaging. All of the guys I have talked to were planning on putting the wheels & tires on a pallet and having them shipped. The prices are outrageous.

ive always used FedEx Ground...but its been a few years since i last shipped wheels. And i actually went to the FedEx drop off site, not a center. Auburn hills was my preferred location.

card board on face, a couple layers, let some air out of tire. done. put the label on the cardboard.
used to cost about $25-30 a wheel/tire...used to be.

I've done it a couple of different ways...the best one I found was to take it to a local shipping store and have them make boxes for them...I think I had them box two together with a piece of cardboard between them to keep them from rubbing.

Well I wish I was buying wheels & tires from any of you guys. It would be no problem then. Seems as though all the guys I am trying to buy them from in other states aren't as willing to help out.

Then you don't want their wheels. They'll show up in terrible condition and you won't be happy. Then, good luck getting any money back from the seller. Buy from someone who is willing to make sure that you get exactly what you are buying.

Agreed, if the seller is lacking the imagination on how to box a wheel than they likely will show up looking like ace Ventura shipped them. Find someone that is not a tard about it and you'll be happy. I have shipped countless jetski motors and other large parts with little more than scrap boxes tape and the occasional old bath towel to get it there undamaged.
